I have been using mainly lamiglas / g loomis rods since before the 80s . First one I got , i won my first bass competition . Back then , they was around $250 for the nice rods . I have mainly stuck with lamiglas / g loomis most my life . Later they split and both still had the shops in the same town . i have new g loomis rods , But have not really used them yet because I have lots of rods . Actually , my first lamiglas / g loomis rod that I won in the bass competition when I was around 10 just broke about 5 years ago . So , it lasted 45 years .

I have some Expride spinning rods that I really like. Then I tried the Adrena's and I really really liked them. I think spending that extra cash is worth it. Now that the Ultima is out I will have to say I won't be buying any of them. There can't be that much of a difference to justify double the cost of the regular Adrena's. Love my Adrena's.....

I like cork also. However the extra sensitivity you get from the carbon is amazing!!

PunchFishing weighed both NRX and Ultima rod and NRX beats it by weight. I’m guessing Ultima is more balanced making it seem lighter than NRX.

The Ultima feels more balanced and more sensitive with the correct reel.

Only reason you need to spend this much money is whenever you'r trying to catch sharks or trying to pull something from the bottom of the ocean. Otherwise just spend $100 on a combo at most. If you have a fish on the line u will feel it. Thank you.😮😮

@user-mr1vn4on2n Ah but will your hand gets annoyingly tired casting all day for a fish? Will you feel very subtle bites with a 50 dollar rod? Will you be able to cast as far and as effortlessly?

I owned the poison ultima baitcast model like 5yrs ago they're pretty nice, but i wouldn't pay $850+ at all, because i didn't paid that much for mine neither and it's stupid over price they're (Shimano USA) is asking for it

Curious to hear from anyone what an $800 rod does for you that a $100 rod won’t?

800.00 rod - lighter which means more sensitive to feel the most lightest bite and can cast all day without your arm falling off.

The weight is one of the major selling points. I would also say that sensitivity is one of the biggest assets. The components of the rods are also top of the line when it comes to durability.

The main reason we get them in the store to to let people experience the difference between price tiers. When you hand someone a $100 or and a $250 rod their faces light up and are like OMG!! @@SmashingSmallies
