There once was a sincere man who wrote a heartfelt letter to his wife, but when she received the letter she mocked him, threw it on the ground and stomped it into the mud. There were some who said that was okay that the woman did that, afterall, it was just paper and ink. But there are others who wept because they understood it was not the paper and ink she had stomped into the mud, but the heartfelt and sincere message of the sender she had treated with such contempt. It's improper to focus on the medium of the message rather than the message itself. They kicked the very Word of God across the stage of their clubhouse.

I went to one of these services a few years ago and the exit song when everyone was leaving the auditorium was "Jump" from Van Halen. From what I understand, that song was about committing suicide and "jumping off a tall building". A strange way to send people off into the world. Oh, and new guitar players are supposed to give their testimonies to the church soon after getting hired. When one of the songs were over the guitar player came to the front of the stage. He said this gig was a blessing from God. He went on to say that prior to this job, he was working at a UPS warehouse. He hated his job and everyone he worked with. And that he always got in trouble with his manager for coming in late and always having a bad attitude. And he concluded by telling the congregation that all he ever loved doing was drinking and playing his guitar and was so grateful that he didn't have to go to work anymore. He said his friend set him up with the audition and vouched for him to get the job. Apparently, nobody checked to be sure he was a Christian or what he was going to say for his "testimony".

I completely agree. The church is doing all kinds of gimmicks to attract more people. They can defend it by saying, we're fishing for men. Truth be told, they want to fill the seats and make money. God's word does not need to be jazzed up. Even in a church that is somewhat holding to truth, pastors seem to feel the need to become entertainers and almost like stand-up comedians. I find it nauseating. The word of God does not need to be jazzed up.

My Pastor wore a football jersey on Sunday and encouraged members to wear one as well. I waited for the after service party to wear the jersey. I didn't feel right wearing it to church. However, the church service was not football themed and nobody kicked the Bible. If I attended one of these churches featured in the video, I'd probably leave and never come back. Who ever thought kicking the Bible was a good idea?!

If my pastor wore a jersey to Sunday service, I would walk out and never return. How about if people spend less time worshipping athletes and more time in God's word? Church is a place to hear God's word preached, not to mix in worldly things like sports.
So, there is definitely a difference between a more contemporary worship service and these....atrocities.

Years ago, the Bible was treated with respect. Now it's used as a football. As I was watching, I wanted to cry for the stupidity that the churches have become. If St. Paul or St. Peter would had walked into that mockery. What would they have said. When will the church realize we're here to feed the sheep and convict the goats of sin. May God of heaven forgive us for not being busy about the fathers business.

As I'm reading 2 Thessalonians and the commendations of a true church, I come across these blasphemous clips of flat out mockery of our Lord Jesus Christ. The sad thing is while these so called "churches" are trying hard to be modern and cool, recent converts like myself are more drawn to reverence and respect toward God which is very hard to find these days. @@jonmock7386 Totally agree. I can never understand the necessity of bringing the world into the church (other than making money of course). There are plenty real Christian churches out there who don't do any of that or fall into cults like the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Church of Science and Scientology or bring the world in like the Pentecostal/Charismatics. This is pretty gross, even for non-Christians I imagine. I often see a lot of people complain about churches collecting money and not paying taxes, and my argument in favor of tax exemption is that, in my experience, the churches in my community give back ALL THE TIME to the public community they reside in, non-members and members in need in meaningful ways. The tithes are being used to help others - not to get rich or to glamorize the church, its staff, or its congregation. When I see these… I don’t know what to call them… major productions (?) going on in churches, I can’t help but feel that those are tithes being wasted on such worldly, worthless things. How many people are being helped by having a 12 person band on stage with all the latest sound equipment? Or how many people are being drawn closer to the lord by these terrible performances? All that money gone to waste.
