Glad everyone involved on all sides thought it through and were sensitive enough to say hey we need to send her back to the colony and not put her in an animal shelter as a lost cause. Male cats, especially, have such hard lives in the wild because of territorial fighting. Sad boy is darn lucky to have his sweet gal next to him. They do for one another. It's all about an unseen frequency.
@sherine9033

Fertile male and female cats have a very difficult street life. But in my opinion fertile females have it harder, if there are a bunch of males while they're in heat the males will literally pull the female as if they're fighting for a piece of meat, and in the infinite amount of mating the female keep getting bitten on the scruff which makes it bleed. And then they get pregnant which means they need more nutrition, but many stray cats usually can't even feed themselves properly since many neighborhoods are not that friendly towards cats. Then they give birth and need even more nutrition to feed the kittens with her milk, plus protecting the kittens cos other cats can kill her baby. And then she mates again, the cycle just never stops.

Almost 3 years ago, my mom saw a cat staying on our property. He never got close to our house even if we lure him. We witnessed how he deteriorated from a handsome cat to being skinny. Just last year, probably in his desperation to have food, he allowed my mom to feed him outside our house. Slowly, we were able to get him to come inside the house. Now, he stays inside for a few hours during his breakfast and dinner. He also allows me to pet him while sitting on my lap for short periods. He still prefers to spend much of his time outdoors but it's satisfying to have witnessed the change. It also brings us joy knowing we have provided him some comfort. Hope that these 2 cats you have there will someday warm up to you. Still, thank you for providing their basic needs to survive. Hope they will have more years together.

@@aniquinstark4347, so few and which species is relative to where you are. I am aware that cats are one of the developed world's most invasive species and is accountable to the loss and extinction of many birds. I was speaking to the situation at hand, though. It's the best case scenario for the cats themselves as far as their quality of life is concerned. Here in Minneapolis domestic cats run high risk of falling victim to parasite infestation in their throats due to eating wild rabbits. We just went through a Massive influx of wild rabbits over the last 3 years and they have become so prolific that they can even be found in city parking lots by the dozen. We have countless wild animals throughout the city but they remain hidden by nature, so seeing anything other than birds and squirrels means overpopulation. If it weren't for indoor/outdoor cats & dogs they would be out of control. I believe that people taking proper responsibility and getting their cats fixed would help exponentially in lowering the population of both cats and dogs. Nonetheless , You are fully correct.

I met a stray cat once when I moved into a mountain neighborhood in East Tennessee. I noticed him meowing one day and tried to get him to come close but he didn't trust any humans...I was about 3 months pregnant with my son at that time and was working in a restaurant doing dishes. I started saving leftover chicken and steak for him and setting it under my porch. Little by little he came closer...He was so scared at first he would hiss at me almost uncontrollably when I set down his treats. This went on for some time. One day when I was about 6 1/2 months along, I was sitting with my door open and reading a book. I looked up to see him by my door, looking in curiously. I softly called to him and he came in! One pet on his head and he became an immediate love bug ❤️ I'll never forget the feeling that day, He stayed for many years. I look back at that memory and it still brings tears and happiness. All our cats were feral. They turned out to be the most loving cats, sleeping in my arms, sleeping under the blankets during the winter, waking me up by touching my mouth with a paw, but very, very gently...

What a lovely pair - cats can feel love. I have had a few couples over the years that were pair bonded and it's the truest love I've seen anywhere. I'm glad they have a person to look after them and they're being cared for.

rest in peace sad boy you were so loved. i guess two years for such an ancient being wasn't such big part of your life, but this two years you'd finally stop trying to survive and have learnt what it is - to live as a cat.

Amazing! Whoever's said animals can't fall in love with another? Love is a universal feeling and not exclusive to mankind. And sometimes we get to observe and see the very rare glimpse of romance and love between animals. 🥰

Love is the most powerful force in the universe and can manifest itself in so many different ways. Just look at aLola and Sad Boy. If that is not love then I don’t know what is.

They're supposed to be together. They should NEVER be separated again. Not until their time comes. Whenever that is.

For some reason, "until their time comes", saddened me greatly

It’s going to be really sad considering Lola is only about 2 & Sad Boy is an old man. I get so upset thinking about that time.

I have a herd. They show up I take care, get them neutered or spayed. Some are indoor/outdoor. Some are just outdoor. I've been able to pet all of them. Some more friendly than others. Food, water, shelter, attention.

This brings tears to my eyes. The love they have for one another is remarkable. I have a Feral cat rescue in San Diego and experience this all too well. Thank you for loving these kitties so much

Animals not only can love but they have a soul. I saw that in a rescue cat my girlfriend got, her cat wouldn't accept him. Even though I wasn't a cat guy I told her don't give him away, I'll take him. Love him like a human child, lost him to cancer and told kids his ashes and mine are to be together. And any cats that go I have as well.

They are beautiful. We have a pair of feral cats in our cat community who are the same. We homed them together and they are settled and happy. One on their own wouldn't settle. X
