In 1983, I ordered a Mark II C from Mesa Engineering - waited 6 mos. to get it. Used it for gigging with a "clean" sound. Remarkable!!! The amp sang, but did not "break up." I was able to attain this sound and used it for prolly 20+ yrs., only occasionally using a "drive" sound. So, the "real" amp is/was very versatile, for both clean and overdrive sounds. I sold it about 10 yrs. ago for twice its cost!

All very nice. It is especially nice to hear someone finally high-lighting some of the lower-gain tones that the Neural modeler (and the real amp) are capable of. The high- gain stuff has its place but for me the lower-gain tones are where its at. Thank you so much for your review.

Hi Jack. A fantastic "run-through" of the Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ Suite. I've owned every model of the Mark amps since the MK1 and until I started recording myself at home relatively recently I never owned a distortion pedal of any sort - the Boogies always gave me what I needed from sparkling clean to singing lead tones. Your playing is fabulous as always, and I'm curious to know if you’ve ever done a "breakdown" of your signature Ibanez guitar 🎸Wishing you lots of luck and good wishes from Ireland. ☘

As a long time metallica fan, I’ve always known this amp for the legendary tones for James and Kirk on Master of Puppets and … And Justice for All. But I’m a blown away by the clean that you were able to bring out of that amp for the “prince tone preset” 🤘🏻

It makes sense though. The clean channel on the boogies is based on a Fender amp. They're really good for cleans.

It sounds great, but they already sort of covered this with the Petrucci plug-in. I’d like to see them come out with a nice AC 30 suite and then maybe a fender, classic suite that covers the Bassman, Tweed and Princeton style sounds for us low gain players. Also, it doesn’t look like they covered the combo cab in this plug-in, am I wrong? One of my favorite players is a guy nobody’s heard of Michael Gurley, and for years he used a Mark II combo with I think a 12” speaker. He got some of the best Strat tones I’ve ever heard.

Maybe I missed it, if I did I apologize. But the main the reason the IIC+ became mythical is Metallica and James Hetfield. Is there a preset, and a gain and GEQ setting for his tone on this? I don't really understand playing models of Mark Series amps and not dialing in Metallica

I missed the mention of an "Electric Gypsy" tone-I'll have to replay (would appreciate a pointer). Assuming it's an allusion to "Elegant Gypsy," that would be interesting, since Al Di used a 50 watt Marshall Plexi for that album, though he was known to use Boogies later.

One thing I found out early in doing presets for a Vox Tonelab SE, I would imagine it would be like this for any player, after I did a few of different Amps/cabinets. I found that I ironically would dial them in and they started to all become like the Same Style sound, except a Tweed/Blk Face/Marshall still sounded like those Amps. But inveritably you dial them into almost same to your ears. Kind of Silly I guess. So realistically I am guessing one could do Gigs with maybe 15 to 20 Presets. So we are in a Smorgasborg of Tones these days.
