First heard this in the 1960's in a live concert. Have known the words by heart from their fantastic album, and sing it once in a while. Strange how nothing in the world has changed since the song was written.

"The more things change, the more they remain the same", are words you can "Take it to the bank" on.

Live at the Hungry i was my favorite album from my parent's collection when I was a kid in the 60's. This song just as timely today as when it was released.

"Strange now nothing in the world has changed since the song was written" -- How true. I think says a great deal about the so-called "leaders" of governments and industry, including finance / banking.

It is a deliberate sour note. Compare to Randy Newman's song Political Science from circa 1978.

Not the original members, except for Bob Shane in the middle on lead. Dave Guard, who was the leader but left very early and moved to Australia, and Nick Reynolds both passed away some years back.

July 11, 2020 - Thankfully some things have changed for the better, but unfortunately, long term world problems still exist with no end in sight. It is interesting how News headlines don't change much over the decades. Today.. Riots in Mali, Africa😢. Fortunately, Spain is doing fairly well at this time.👍👍😊

Now, three years after your above comment, would you agree with what you said? I doubt it. We seem to be in a downward slump. Temporary, I pray. (an apolitical comment; many current current problems have been gestating for several years)

I made a parody: They're rioting in Africa They're starving in Spain Florence is on the East Coast And Sahara needs rain The whole world is festering with unhappy souls The french hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch And Kim Jong Un doesn't like anybody very much! But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud For man's been too confident with a mushroom-shaped cloud And we know for certain that some lovely day Kim Jong Un will press the button... And we will all be blown away! They're rioting in Africa There's strife in Iran What nature doesn't so to us Will be done by one of our fellow man
