So I'm still in Ninh Binh, in Hang Mua to be precise.
Today I decided not to take the scooter but to cross the rice fields on foot for a change.
Luckily I have google maps because everything looks the same here, there are only very narrow roads and crossroads everywhere.
I go to Tam Coc to take the famous boat trip.
The problem is that google tells me to go exactly in the middle of carabaos, the buffaloes.
Apparently it looks safe but I'm not reassured.
The boats are really touristy, but the view I saw on the photos at the entrance looks really spectacular so we'll go there.
The price for the ride, which lasts about 2 hours, is 120,000 dongs, that's about 5 euros.
But if you want a boat all to yourself, like me, you will pay 270,000 dongs which is about 11 euros.
Here you should know that there is a rather special feature, it is that the rowers row with their feet!
It's not a joke, they really row with their feet.
We also cross a few caves, it's quite impressive, sometimes you almost have to bend down.
This is where some scenes from the movie King Kong Skull Island were filmed.
In any case, the landscape is really magnificent and the walk is rather soothing.
After the boat, we will climb to the top of Hang Mua viewpoint. It's a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse I'm staying, Hang Mua Homestay, so it's convenient.
And the entrance costs only 100,000 dongs, 4 euros. It's also called Mua Cave, and that's one of the reasons (among others) why I chose to come here to Vietnam and especially to Ninh Binh.
We're going to climb 500 steps and there are 2 peaks. On the highest, there is a dragon, and on the other a small pagoda, and there too the view is spectacular.
It climbs really steeply so you still have to be in good shape to climb.
At the top of the first peak you can see the route of the boats at tam Coc where I was just a few hours ago.
The dragon was not super accessible there were too many people at the top, plus it's very small, so I decided to go straight to the second peak instead.
No security, it's not in France that we would see that.
This place is also nicknamed Halong Bay on land. It is true that it is impressive.
