Thanks, Si, you have lifted my dark Sunday afternoon spirits . . . I am a magpie too! The tongs are definitely for putting pieces of coal or logs onto an open fire. I used to be a housekeeper in a large country house, one of my duties was to keep the brass and silver looking in ''tip top'' condition, we had a set of tongs very similar to those you found . . . erm . . but not the condition.

I found a old rubbish pile up in the woods behind my house. I found beautiful glass from the early 30s. I found a metal six bottle Coca-Cola carrier. I never could find any info. My best find was a brass doorknob with a beautiful intricately flower pattern. Didn't know it was brass until I cleaned it up. Of course I used it in the house. Loved digging there just to see what other treasures were hiding. This was fun watching. I felt like I was back in the woods in East Tennessee again. I find it relaxing to dig in the dirt and uncover hidden treasures. Thanks for the memories.

Oregon, USA. Near where he and my daughter lived. He worked at a man made lake that had once been farm land. It was all bought up and made into a dam that is the local water supply. All the old farms from way back used to bury their garbage, or dumped into the little streams. What he found in his digging times were not as old or historic, but mostly household items.

Great video! What is there not to love about digging up old dumps? Here in the Adelaide Hills it'd be an old farm dam rather than a pond. 😊 As a fellow upcycler, I LOVE your pot lid design. I work with semi precious gem chips from 2nd hand/ broken jewellery all the time and think your labels a divine way help keep them sorted so off to look at your etsy store. Always a pleasure watching you and your mates have fun in the muck, my kind of fun too. 😁
