Have to say this video has made me wish I could visit Japan all the more, and the ending to this video was a surprise in itself, running into your daughter unexpectedly like that, the brief banter between the two of you about chocolate was nice to witness, made me smile a bit.

When you said 'Sweet Chocolate' I heard Natsuki saying it... He should've been there with you ;-) I must say that where I live there's a chocolate that look and crumble just like that chocolate at the last part. It's been sold here since I was a little boy and I'm 51 now... It is one of my favorites 😀

I always liked the Lindt Chocolate. We used to have a Lindt store about ten minutes. About once a month the wife and I would go and get a big bag of the truffles and a drink. Unfortunately the store closed last year. Now the closest store is in Chicago, which is about two hours away.

I like how the channel doesn't censor ppl faces, as it ruins the immersion of Japan's environment, because if ppl go to Japan, ppl's vision aren't censored, like in some youtube videos.

I assume the childhood almond paste was Odense, really good stuff. The grocery store chocolate brands in Japan are pretty mediocre but these look good (especially the headliner). Lindt is at least decent. My all time favourite chocolate is Valrhona but that's not something you eat every day.

Cacao in Meso America was mainly a drink for the rich, since Cacao needs rather specific conditions to grow in so most of the cacao was imported , but the Mayans grew there cacao trees in sinkholes, but Cacao was usually consumed by nobles, but Mayan commoners could drink a lower quality cacao drink, the Aztecs/Mexica consumed Cacao too, But it was only for nobility, royalty (those in the families of the city state rulers), and those in military, as well as the Pochteca merchants (who carried weapons and were considered warriors) but according to Spanish sources aztec warriors were given Cacao on marches and were given enough energy to march for a whole day, and a major thing, Cacao was used as money!
