I've been this route before. The best way to get this resolved is to call your cc company and file a claim & have them dispute the charge. The establishment will have to give proof of WHY your card was charged or they will be forced to issue a credit. There is no need for either of you to waste any more time or energy on this situation. Not only should you dispute the credit card charge but you should report the whole incident to the better business bureau because someone there may be stealing off of people's credit cards. That's how these places are getting away with things like this because no one holds them accountable.

Yes!!! I work in credit card disputes. Please dispute these charges if you do not receive a credit in the next few days. Also, keep any and all documentation you may have because the bank will ask for proof if the hotel fights the dispute. I really hope you guys get your money back. Unfortunately, this situation happens more often than it should smh

With that being said, I work with the public and people are soooo God damn rude and think because I'm providing them a service they can talk to me any type of way and it gets old fast. I am happy to help anyone with anything, but don't come at me and be nasty to me because I am 1 person trying to help multiple people.

I've worked in hotels for 20 years as the director of the front desk and reservations. He's lucky you weren't a Marriott shopper because not only would the hotel get a bad score. They would all be trained all over again.

Service has gone down everywhere for literally everything! It’s maddening. Sometimes I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. There really is no excuse for rudeness though. I can handle slow service as long as people are nice and apologetic. An attitude? Nope. You get what you put out into the world.

Disputing your charge is not too bad. I worked in a chargeback department of a company. They’ll refund you and dispute the charge with the company. The company will either send proof that the charge is valid, and you’ll be charged, or they will “accept the chargeback” and you get your refund. It’s pretty straightforward once you report it. Your bank will contact the company and dispute the charge.

That was so great of you to call for her. I will say I never call the hotels directly I call customer service from the branch. It's so stressful when you get over charged and you have to keep calling. I had the same issue with Hilton. But my 2nd call did take care of it.

Hi! Definitely dispute it , $50 is still a lot and to just lose it for no reason is not good. Just keep the receipts. I would be so frustrated as well. I would never return to that location with this issue, if the place can't keep employees or employees are incompetent just shows that training is not done correctly!

That really sucks but yes definitely dispute it with your credit card! They are usually pretty good about returning your money back that’s why they say to use your credit cards instead of debit cards. I’m with Jamil you will never get anywhere by yelling at someone in customer service even though they deserve it! Havnt we all been there, I understand it is really frustrating especially when it comes to money. I hope you guys have a great day!

I stayed in Marriott suites for a very long time. They're my favorite because I can get bedrooms and a full kitchen but they are not good at redeeming free stays. So I just saved my points and got free patio furniture. Always ask for a reference number and escalate. They give fake names. I've been told people I was supposed to reference never worked there. And the manager got mad at me when I gave them the name! I was shook. Like that's how we do it now? Bet!

Hi! Definitely call the CC company and dispute. They will refund you immediately and then investigate. If the hotel doesn’t know what the charge was for then they have no proof to provide and the refund will stand. 😊

The only issue with credit card disputes if it goes to the fraud department it’s a hassle they cancel the card and send a new one about a week later but sense it was charged from the hotel it may be able to be refunded without much hassle usually done online but you can always call your credit card company stinks this happened it’s definitely a pain to deal with

Please Definitely dispute the charge with your bank if this doesnt shake out. They'll place a temp credit and get with the company and Definitely get your credit- used to work for a bank. Please let them handle it! Also had this happen to me, change that card number too!

Kristin and Jamil, especially jamil it's good to be nice but at times you have to be little forceful and as you say you don't need to yell because that won't get you anywhere. Since Covid people have lost their humanity and care about working or really doing their JOB. Kristin im with you i HATE when people are over talkative and they interrupt when you're trying to finish and what makes me mad even now i develop a speaking condition in 2018 hard to speak now. so once i do speak let me finish because it's hard to start up again? That's the first thing i tell them listen to me Don't interrupt because i have a speaking condition. But most of the time i do get nice people who will listen and help me and when they refuse, to let me speak to a manager i will again ask for their name and say you sure you won't let me talk to a manager? That's my pet peeve then i hang up and call back asking for a manager.🤬 Kristin don't let them keep ur $50.00 hell to the no!! Just call ur CC department or ur bank let them deal with it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I worked at a Marriott, not the easiest system to learn especially if you’re not trained properly, as I was not. Honestly, it’s easy to charge people accidentally, even if the room was prepaid. With that said, this call should’ve went straight to management or corporate instead of discussing it with the same guy that you already know doesn’t care much about his job. I wouldn’t of kept calling. I always go above folks heads when something is wrong. He should’ve chosen his words better for sure. I would’ve passed the call off.

I have a very strange cell phone account story. We added 3 of our teens to our plan. We have the payment taken out directly each month. A few months go by and the 3 cell phones wouldn't work. Long story short... they added our 3 lines to someone else's account and that person reported it as fraud. The cell phone company couldn't do anything without that person permission and it took forever forever for them to answer their phone. Which I understand and would be frustrated too. Because that person reported it as fraud We couldn't get the phones turned back on unless we changed their phone numbers. This entire thing took weeks to get resolved.

I was advised that when you check out, always get a zero statement showing nothing is due. This way they can’t go back and assess extra charges . Hope you get your refund .

Call your bank. They'll likely ask you questions so they can file a dispute with the hotel. They'll take care of it from there, and you should get your money back in a couple weeks.
