SE has had this same problem for 20 years. If you didn't play FFXI on PS2, paying for the game was a pain in the ass. It's easy to blame WoW for FFXI's decline, but part of it was also the payment process. Blizzard made it so easy to take your money and Square just has no idea.

I'm on the same boat. My registered country is Italy, but I moved to the UK last year. In two more years my Italian debit card will expire and I will not be able to get a new one because I no longer have an Italian address. I am terrified, my account is Legacy, I've had it since 1.0. I don't want to lose 14 years worth of progress and memories. They need to allow registered country information. This is absurd.

I have the Steam version of FFXIV, I just use Steam payment system when paying my sub and any mog station items. I'm required to validate my Steam account when purchasing from the mog station. The Steam payment system for my sub goes through without any issues. Yay for Steam?

Even when I did a quick search on YT, there are not many Setup Guides out there. Many videos created a few years ago. SE really needs to update their system.

When ARR launched in 2014, the mog station felt archaic and completely stuck 20 years in the past. Things have advanced and now in the year 2024, they are stuck 30 years in the past. The thing is, it's not going to get any better any time soon unless people will really make a big deal of this. This isn't just a FFXIV problem, it's not even just a Square Enix problem, it's all of Japan. They are just stuck in the past when it comes to everything related to web development and things are not advancing over there at all, they are in their own 90's bubble.

Same with banking in general, all the JVlogging KZitem channels usually put banking in Japan as one of the worst experiences of living there. It's so archaic and unnecessarily bureaucratic and inefficient but the oldies run everything in Japan and hate change so nothing changes.

Food for thought. The no region transfer was an early decision and is a feature, not a bug. Whether for simplified tax reasons, to allow regional exclusives, or some mix of other reasons, they can't allow people to transfer regions else it throws off their other stuff. It is clearly a horrible method, but it's not a simple fix. Maybe with them implementing per transaction sales tax, they are working towards one day allowing region transfers, but then you still have the problem of Japan accounts with their KFC items trying to transfer. And I wouldn't be surprised if their horrible coding means NA accounts don't have a way to enable those items, or the files aren't in the game, or something, which means it's gonna take alot to enable it even if they decide to enable it

I pre ordered the new xpac to figure out that I had this same issue because I live in Puerto Rico and is not even listed as a state of US or commonwealth which is what we are. I have 0 ways to re sub on my address. I bought a pre paid for 2 months and tried to register and wont let me register without resolving the address which is the dumbest shit ever. I pulled some random address in US just to be able to register a PRE PAID CARD. This is the dumbest shit. I will probably take the L from the moment my pre paid expires and just go back to WoW permanently. I cannot deal with this BS anymore. Square is dumb and clueless at this point.

I had an entry level sub, waited for it to expire. THEN I went over to Amazon, bought a time card and applied it. That’s the only way I can pay for the game right now. However, eventhough im able to play, I cannot pay for my retainers. So I have 4 retainers filled with items that I cannot summon or pull items from. 😢

You have to be crafty to buy anything from SE. I tried to buy a shirt for a friend on their site but for some reason you couldn’t get a medium. It’s not that it was sold out or unavailable, you just couldn’t click on it for the color and size I wanted. It just didn’t work. I figured the page must exist so I checked what changed in the url for the size and color and manually changed the url to be able to add the shirt I wanted to the cart. It’s just ridiculous.

Don't email SE support. CALL THEM. I had so much trouble dealing with SE support via email. I finally called them and they resolved my issue within minutes. It was not this same issue, so I can't promise good results, but email is definitely not going to work.

Problem is not in mog station at all with payments its wide problem of verification of accounts and their countries. Of course you cannot pay from US while your main country was Ukraine. It will be weird. But what can you do its make bank account under US country sign up like Revolut where you will just sign up under your now actual adress. Or you can call to your bank on Ukraine and try to explain problem and ask them if they can add you temporary billing adress.

Never had an issue since I signed up 5 years ago. When my card got compromised and had to switch it off, THEN it became a problem and has to resort to using Crysta. 2 Months later, the issue is now finally fixed and I was able to put my card back on for the sub ^^

Having to remove your payment method is a new thing I think, I noticed it when I wanted to change my sub from 1 month -> 6 months. It was so annoying that I felt like I was going insane. I am starting to think that Mogstation is part of some Lovecraftian summening ritual that SE is doing.

Every content creator that talks to the FFXIV team needs to raise (and keep raising) what trash their website/account/store is and push them to fix/update it. It's especially rdiculous in this day and age when you look at account management platforms like Battlenet and Steam. I've never seen a company who makes it this difficult to give them money.

Zelpa thanks for making this video. This has been my struggle for years, finding the most obscure ways to pay for my account. I moved continents several years ago and since its been a pain. Paying for a damned game should be stressful but here we are. Support flat out told me its not possible to swap regions and thay if i couldnt find a way to pay, i would have to repurchase the game in my new region. Additinally as i registered in japan, the japanese registration did not accept abc, so i had to give them a japanese character version of my name... but there were insufficient characters so my name is cut off. When i asked se to fix it they informed me they need 2 legal id documents, one that states the name mention in jp exactly as written and one in abc. But ehm since the name is cut off, there is no document with my name like that. So i gave up. And if it now ever becomes a problem i no longer posess jp identification at all so ehm guess im screwed. Your video cheered me up though and made me laugh and shared misery

I just came back from a year and a half break. I was on entry when I was playing before. When I came back my card didn't work but my sub had obviously run out and the time card worked. I think you'll be ok after your game time is gone. Changing servers is, unfortunately, not going to happen til they figure out how to take our money though.

I ran into the card issue since I hadn't subbed in a good while and had to buy a game time card from Amazon. Thank goodness that worked for me and I hope either Square Enix gets off their behind and gets things fixed or Zepla can find some kind of work around that works for her! Part of the problem with using a prepaid Visa or Mastercard for her is that she might have to get one from Ukraine, if that's even possible, due to now requiring the address for the card account to match the address of the Square account.

The issue with credit/debit cards right now seems to be widespread among japanese platforms. Not sure if it's VISA/mastercard tightening down on Japanese entertainments, or this is the "theorized" marketing plan Japanese companies are trying to push towards payment using their own respective wallet currencies due to the depreciation in Yen. It's been happening across multiple different platforms with with the same exact card issues in just 2 months. Coincidence? Hard doubt.

I had the same problem. And found out that it was actually my card company that blocked the payment as scam. So after a phonecall with them, they unblocked it. And now it works fine.

Idk why the mogstation even exists. Why can't it all just be in a subsection of the Square Enix site? I know this is more of an issue of bank security by ensuring that card addresses line up with account addresses, but people move or get cards replaced, and this is all kinds of goofy. It should not be this difficult. Maybe SE really should just start accepting cash in envelopes mailed to their office. It sounds like a pisstake, but snail mail is actually more secure than people think.

I can totally relate to this issue. I'm one of the many SEA players who have been battling this problem for years. I couldn't resubscribe with my PS4 account and tried everything-seriously, 101 different tricks people suggested-but nothing worked. So, I bought the game via Steam and started a new account. Now, guess what? I’m facing the same problem whenever I try to buy anything from the store. It's like trying to solve a Rubik's cube in the dark! It's ridiculously hard to spend any money on this game, while other games make it as easy as 1-2 clicks. I love FF14, but your payment system is a nightmare! I swear, it's like you're making me jump through flaming hoops just to give you my money. If I wanted this level of frustration, I'd try assembling IKEA furniture without the instructions!

my debit card stopped working out of the blue, and i've always been in the US for everything. I just went to try to sub for FFXI for nostalgia purposes, and ever since it wouldn't' accept it for that, i can't use it for FFXIV either. I'm lucky, and i have another bank card i can use, but a lot of folks dont. :( Also: it's not being a Karen when it's justified. ;)

I've had my subscription for FFXIV and FF11 go through around May 11th, then afterwards my debit card just stopped working. Went to go buy a Fantasia and it says 'Card is Unavailable,' there are no issues with my card itself so then I decided to do what you did and re-register my payment method and lord and behold.. it doesn't work, same error shows. I didn't think I'd be leaving FF14 because SE doesn't want money. I haven't bothered with SE Customer Service as I will get no response anyways.

I was actually paying my sub through paysafecard for quite a while. When i was to young to have my own bank account i had two options: 1. Ask someone else to pay my sub for me through online methods. 2. Go to the Store 500m away and get a Paysafecard. I choose the Second option. In contrast to Zepla it went pretty well for me, since i don't live in the US XD.

I did transfer my chara from the SE service to steam. It was also an entry one, and I was also in another country. I tried to say this on her chat but she is now focused on playing gacha, maybe someone can pass this to her so in a future video says 'Someone in my youtube comments told me the solution' instead of saying Rue told her the solution, but that's ok. As long as she can relax about this.

i wonder how much money SE is losing every month because there website is from early 2000. Add to this the outdated and unresponsive game engine and you start to realise why wow has more players despite all the negative press

I pay my sub through 60-day time codes from Amazon, definitely beats dealing with the weird setup SE has going on with the mogstation

Whatever it is it’s an issue on their end. I have lived in the USA all my life and my Visa still don’t work even though it worked before. The last update they must have fucked something up or they’re having finance issues and cut support for a lot of services.

Yeah I ended up playing ARR twice once on US then I accidently bought on EU copy of the game so I had to start over with an EU account. I'm just glad I didn't wait until the end of the free trial before buying the game otherwise I'd have to replay heavensward too. If the community didn't do such a good job of promoting this game I would have thrown it in the trash right there.

Just started playing, and it took me two hours to get online after purchasing. Turns out I had purchased the game years ago and gave up trying to deal with mog station. Purchased a sub on the old account, not knowing i had to input the product key for the new purchase to activate. What a mess!

My boyfriend can't sub (he's in canada and has a canada debit visa) and won't let him verify his address. I was able to verify my address, but my card won't work.

SE making the A38 pass real. Seeing how they never fixed the server issues since 2.0, they wont fix this either

ZEPLA! @Zepla I had the same problem, and I think I found what the issue is. The English is bad on that section. That step says "home world" but they are really asking you to pick your NEW home world, and what character to take to that new world. I think that dropdown menu is showing you the available worlds to go to, not where you are from. I could be wrong, but I remember trying to this about a month ago and I think that's what happened. I ended up not transferring because my husband is still in dynamis, so I'm not even sure if it will work or not.r new

I guess that is one positive playing on ps5. We dont seem to have issues with using the station. My acct renewed a couple of weeks ago.

Agreed. I was shocked how easy it was to purchase the expansion, though some day I will need to update my credit card through mog station and I fear that day.

I have heard Ad blockers have to interact with the rendering engine of a browser and turning that off could help if you use one. Though that would only possibility solve the data center list.

I'm having this same problem, I relocated to the UK after spending 29 years of my life in the US, and of course I've had my account since the game first launched in 2014 or whatever what a mess Square....what an absolute mess, and I've had this account for 10 years, I'm not going to restart and make a new account after I've spent 10 years of my life on my WoL, what a mess.
