Thank you for this wonderfil and informative video-tribute! I started my Mugler journey with Angel Inocent, upgraded to Angel EdP years later and currently I wear Angel Muse, my favourite of the Angels. I can't wearAlien but love its flankers Essence Absolue , Eau Extraordinaire and Eau Sublime. As for Womanity, I fell head over heels in love after spraying it on myself a sample given to me in a department store when it was launched in 2010 . It really worked on my skin and it got me many compliments, even from a stranger at bus stops 🤣. The one Mugler I can't stand is Aura. Funny how these fragrances are so polarising, people either love of hate them. They are very unsual and potent, and can't definitely be a bit overbearing but this is ehat makes them so especial.

Thank You for the tribute. How lovely those Taste and Liqueur takes were indeed. Not many Muglers have worked for me over the years, but Angel (plus some flankers& variations) and I have spent almost 20 years together now. It helps me tremendously on those days when I find it hard to make peace with myself, and a little self comfort/self indulgence in the sweetest, most impossibly unapologetic perfume I own is in order to make things better. It's become the equivalent of a friendly embrace over the years and as such, is always much appreciated. And yes, the lol reaction always happens first spritzing it after some time! The other Mugler I keep coming back to is strangely AMen Pure Wood, though I'm not sure why, as woody ambers I usually don't handle well. I just don't know why. It's like those silky smooth blonde wooden furniture pieces of which you somehow know that long years and loving use have polished the wood to a smooth finish. I like the 2009 Angel Liqueur a bit more than the 2013 one, but all from that period are interesting. May Monsieur Mugler rest in peace.

Thank you for this wonderful tribute, Mr. P. Thierry Muffler’s artistic vision was exceptional and he will remain unforgotten. ❤️ Please do the part 2 with those special editions for the film Perfume. I‘d also love to see your take on great perfumes that were flops and why.

I love the fact that Thierry Mugler was trained as a ballet dancer before entering the world of fashion! There is an intriguing connection between dance and perfume: both can be perceived in the moment of action only and by a part of ourselves that is highly non intellectual. Both are very often “gone too soon“. They both tend to be ethereal, passionate and even animalic in nature, depending on their respective composition of cultural and artistic background and quality of materials (training, physical shape and artistry of the dancer). Both art forms seem to be not taken seriosly enough, or even be considered superficial. Although the satisfaction and delight of those experiencing them have the potential for being anywhere close to heavenly!

I think the Mugler Cologne reflects the early 2000's vision of the future and futuristic style of that time. Fantastic scent, shame it was discontinued. Even the ad for Mugler Cologne reflects the futuristic minimalism of this scent. As for the name "Womanity", maybe they should have called it something like "Android"

Without a doubt, A*Men was THE single most important fragrance that changed my entire perception of designer perfumery. Before that, all I knew was citrus floral aquatics and the odd fruity sweet spicy. Suddenly, there was a sparkling, decadent, sticky caramel syrup you could wear. 🤯Oh yes...and patchouli. 😄The women's '92 formulation still in my top 5 head turners of all time.

I think for me Mugler bridged the gap between designer and niche so well, especially back then. I was obsessed with Amen, Bmen, pure coffee and A taste of. Really getting me interested in more realistic smelling fragrances that were a bit more literal but still very wearable. Really admired the creativity and balls of the brand and I’m sure it inspired many.

@@lucianac4388 Great to have you! A*Men is short for Angel Men, the 1996 release by Jacques Huclier that put a spin on the wildly popular women's 1992 release of the original Angel. Since then, there have been reformulations of both the women's and men's versions (at least 2 for the men's) following acquisitions by both Clarins and L'Oreal. As a result, the proverbial gutting of the whole A*Men line - often hailed as one of the best in the designer realm - as well as the ongoing release of lackluster Angel flankers, has been instrumental in the subsequent downfall of the Mugler brand as a shining star in designer perfumery. The concensus today (which I wholeheartedly agree with) is that if you're ever in the market for an Angel perfume (men's or women's), make sure it's branded as "THIERRY MUGLER" in slanted text on the box and bottle, and not just "MUGLER." Those formulations are most consistent with Thierry's original vision, and the ones that still have the most emotional impact on me. The only exception is maybe Angel Muse edp. That one I can enjoy. 😄 Hope that helps!

I always greatly admired Thierry Mugler, the couturier. His bold designs spilled over into his vision for fragrances, not surprisingly. I have a few versions each of Angel, A*men, Womanity, Les Exceptions, and the colognes, and I love and wear all of them. I may also add that the Liqueur de Parfum, Les Parfums De Cuir, and Le Gout du Parfum flankers of Angel, Alien, and Womanity are worthy versions as well.

Fun video. I would also enjoy the Perfume book/Laudmiel creations part 2. Ive not explored Mugler much but received a Hand me down of womanity in the early part of pandemic and it was so off putting that I emptied it and used bottle as alcohol spray (materials were short at that point in time). Every disinfecting spritz smelled like that and I’ll never forget it 😷 I truly appreciate anyone who makes a fragrance that is so strange and unpopular!!!

I still have to grip a scarf over my nose and sprint past the Angel counter. Love Alien and many of the A*Men specials. Womanity was brave and doomed. We will miss his artistic direction, RIP Manfred Thierry Mugler.
