@@aarontesterman3854 Not necessarily. In the UK you are allowed to lawfully detain people using reasonable (ie, not much) force if they are in the process of committing a crime. So long as they contact the police in the matter and allow them to handle the situation after they arrive (or are transported to the station), they're likely acting within the law. I remember this show but don't remember what it's called. They did other pranks on potential opportunistic thieves, like gluing down an expensive item to see how many people would try to take it and leaving a house window open but trying to enter would activate a sensor that would trigger dazzling lights and a load of noise 😂

I liked that one too, but I don't know from which county that was done in. The problem with that, say here in North America, is that laws will actually go against the person who owns the truck. Closing the door and RIDING AWAY is the sheer definition of kidnapping and while the thief could go to jail, the truck owner could end up in prison. Laws are not always fair, sadly.
@devoutmisanthrope5687

@@BlondieSLuh, I think that's pretty fair. The video with the theif truck was probably staged. I'm not against public shaming but it should be a sentence handed out by a judge after a conviction. In order to answer that, one would need to know from which country this happened. It doesn't seem like the USA, which, if it were, the truck owner (person who slammed the door shut and took off with the truck) would be arrested for kidnapping. *THAT'S SAYING IF THAT WASN'T STAGED!!!* I'm suspicious of that since there are 2 cameras in the truck and the guy conveniently just jumps inside without watching out? Some of these are pretty stupid. The gas station one, the LEAST you could have done was retrieved the items and made her give them back. I don't see the point of telling them to wait for the police. He regularly does that and none of them actually wait. 9x out of 10 police are not going to show up for petty theft. Just make her dump the items from her purse, retrieve them, and ban them from the store. And the guy who filmed the porch pirate, what was the point if you weren't going to retrieve the package? Clearly she dropped the package, so wait for her to ride off somewhere, get out and put it back in your car and bring it back to the neighbor she stole it from. Filming just to say you did does nothing to rectify the situation lol. Like what?
