⚽️ Todays video is about thigh contusion (muscle bruise).
It's very normal to get into hard tackles and getting a bruise, sometimes an invincible bruise - especially on your thighs (Quadriceps). This is also known as "Dead Leg" or "Corked Thigh". The pain is coming from muscle fiber damage.
📌Here is what you need to know about the injury:
1️⃣ It's acting like a muscle strain (muscle fiber damage=inside bleeding). But instead of being overstretched, the damage occurred by impact from the outside hitting the muscle against the hard bone structure = muscle contusion.
2️⃣ It's a good idea to prevent massive bleeding with a compression wrap around the thigh in the acute phase. (note: don't wrap it too tight. Avoid blue colors and numbness in the rest of your leg)
3️⃣ The day after the injury you can already start doing light stretches, massage, and exercises. And if you don't feel to much pain - you should start doing more challenging exercises like deep squats and single leg squats. This will make the muscle heal faster and better by flushing out the damaged tissue and blood. Furthermore, you will get the muscle ready for playing football again without getting a new muscle fiber problem.
