I think you have to grow older and go back to thin Lizzy to truly appreciate their greatness. I say that as someone who has always considered thin Lizzy as my favourite band. I'm 54 now and so glad I finally got to see them at Derby assembly rooms on the thunder and lightning tour. I now love the fact that all the different guitarists changed Lizzy in some way but they always remained Thin Lizzy. Snowy white in my opinion is and always has been seen as the worst member of Lizzy but when I listen to Chinatown and renegade now they have become 2 of my favourite albums but I love all of them at different times and my favourite era changes depending on how I feel at any given time. I think Scott Gorham gets wrongly seen as the 2nd or rythm guitarist from some people but he is definately not 2nd rate to any of Lizzie's other guitarists and it shows his versatility to play alongside all of them. Utterly brilliant band no matter what state the members may have got in they always delivered the goods and their music definately comes under the timeless category as it still sounds fresh and awesome today. Don't bash snowy just appreciate all of the them for their unique contributions into an awesome band.

Speaking of Gary, hes my fav guitar player out of all of them, without him you wouldnt have Still in love, Parisienne, Dont believe a word, Alibi etc but, the Robbo era was still the best in terms of Lizzy shows ! Was this taken from their Rockpalast performance?
@chrisstolle
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I own the DVD of this Thin Lizzy Rockpalast performance from 1981 in it’s entirety so it is most definitely from their Rockpalast performance that this clip was taken from! It is/was a pretty long set list clocking in at around 1 hour and 50 minutes, including Hollywood ( which is played on this clip ) and Angel Of Death, before they finished or maybe before they even started recording the Renegade album so both songs have alternate/different lyrics than the album plus a few deep cuts such as Genocide etc. I bought it at a bookstore such as Boarders and Joseph Best etc. for only around $10-15 at least a decade ago so it may be out of print, but there is a KZitem video of the whole set which was probably ripped from the DVD! Others on this thread have said how bad Snowy White sounds and how sloppy Thin Lizzy played during this set, but I feel like they’re flying off the handle a little bit and despite their negative comments/reviews, it’s their most complete concert video released, meaning no songs were omitted from the original set that was filmed and recorded!

@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown Yeah, there are a bunch of songs from that 1981 Rockpalast performance separated into one or two song clips, and at least one or two full length videos of the whole set posted on KZitem! The DVD I have May be something you can find pretty cheap on eBay etc. it was pretty cheap to buy it at full retail cost, it was no more than $20 at the bookstore brand new, but if it’s out of print and the seller knows it, they may try to gouge you on the price!

Considering the fact that Live and dangerous is only just a few years before this, this is just a total downward spiral since then. Only Downey still sets the bar high. Snowy sounds crap with this gear and plays sloppy. Gorham is a player with a certain quallty but he misses the die hard skills of a player like Moore or Robbo. There is no better lizzy then the Lizzy with Robbo/Gorham. Phil was probably high on smack in this video, he looks tired.
