Scotty Gorham was always the unheralded one. Black Irish was without doubt the leader, the heart, the soul but Gorham was the glue with that Les Paul Deluxe. Riles me that he's rarely mentioned when talk of Lizzy's guitars comes up.

I miss these days compared to the no talent rubbish we have today! Long live Rock and Roll! Thank you Phil and the boys for some of the best music ever you deserve so much more credit!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIN LIZZY The most underrated truly talented rock band of all time. Most people only know their 2 commonly played songs. They are so much more than what those 2 songs represents. To me they are a much better blues-oriented rock band with truly deep meaningful lyrics. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO

yes I'm learning this just now. in fact I just spent the last half hour learning is the bass line for fighting and playing it over and over. this is the way rock is supposed to be and thin Lizzy belongs in my record collection alongside Zeppelin and all the other big names.

They were a one of a kind band we'll never see again. I've read The Rocker (Mark Putterford RIP) a good biography of Phil which offers many anecdotals and personal testimonies from people who knew and worked with him. It appears he had some sorta death wish after his marriage failed along with his falling out with Robbo and Gary which he couldn't reconcile. Even Bob Geldof not someone I admire, stated that Phil lived the rock star life more than anyone he knew and couldn't switch off. Renegade is their darkest album. Songs like Angel of Death, The Pressure Will Blow, Leave This Town and It's Getting Dangerous are confessions of a man on the edge.

Phil was pure charisma. It's such a shame he let heroin destroy him. What a waste of talent. He could have gone on for decades if he had got help. I love the Fighting album. Robbo and Gorham had some serious chemistry and Brian's drumming here is splendid. Listen to those subtle fills he does. The man could play anything.

That’s quite harsh and insensitive to how tough addiction is. One doesn’t simply just choose to let a drug addiction take their life. Phil was prolific, and despite his too soon passing, certainly did not waste his talent and gifted us with so much great music and art.

Actually his career was already in decline when he died. Thin Lizzy had broken up, Grand Slam couldn't even get a record contract, and the only deal he could get as a solo artist was for UK singles, not albums.

This is pretty hard rockin set! Like a Freddie was to Queen. the sound of Bonzo’s drums were to Zeppelin or Tyler spinning ‘round in front of Aerosmith. Phil’s presence was so identifiable with this band that without him, there simply is no Lizzy. He was unique as a fingerprint and a true star. As genuine as they come and a hard worker. I think they had many more mountains to climb but was cut short unfortunately. The brightest stars shine for the shortest time. The public knows when someone is real and genuine. That was Phil.
