Josh it is good to hear you are back to what you enjoy doing most. The time you spent on the other job for the 8 months was a time to rest from construction and now you are reenergized to get back in. My husband is in construction and people are looking for good, hardworking, knowledgeable and full of integrity construction workers. God has gifted you in this area and your skills. God’s plans are never wrong.

Josh went on a new adventure and learned new skills in food service…I always thought Josh should get back to construction because its where his skills are. Your skills from age 15 are so valuable. We have a shortage of construction workers in Wisconsin. Josh, you are also an amazing father with all your children including your baby. Wishing you the best Josh in everything you do. I enjoyed you coming on the live today. Thank you! God has a plan for you.

I haven’t tuned in for awhile due to ongoing health issues but you both are so refreshing to watch. You both have grown spiritually and are exuding the love of Christ. Its so amazing to hear that God is directing your paths through it all. It is so wonderful that you spend quality time with your kids. I see so many parents on their phones, ignoring their kids in restaurants and at home because they think social media is more important. Kids grow up so fast and these will be the best years of your lives. I look back at those precious memories of raising our kids and I don’t regret any of the sacrifices of time that I made for them. We never know what tomorrow brings so hold on to them today. Many blessings to you and your family. 🙏🏻

"Date nights" can be overrated. People put that out there as a "must" for a healthy marriage, and it's not. As long as your partner & relationship are prioritized and you're connecting, "dates" are not necessary.

I usually enjoy watching your videos, but this one was very disappointing. First of all, why would you say that Josh "failed"? That is something I would NEVER say about my husband . . . even if he did, and Josh definitely did not fail. In fact, he seems to have done an amazing job of getting the donut cart up and running and successful. And you actually said that you were "embarrassed" by Josh's job changes and choices. I think my mouth dropped open when you said that. There was nothing embarrassing about Josh's decisions. Also, calling your home a "fixer upper" is absolutely ridiculous. Your house is beautiful and perfectly liveable just as it is. In fact, I would give anything to have a gorgeous kitchen like yours. Just because it's not your style, doesn't make it a fixer upper. My husband and I bought a true fixer upper when we got married. It needed all new wiring, plumbing, and a complete makeover. You seem like a nice person, but as a Mennonite, I would expect you to be a bit more humble and a lot more grateful. Those are two traits I admire most in my Mennonite friends. You have so much compared to a lot of women your age, and you don't seem to appreciate it or have gratitude for it. Please go back and watch this video and realize how your comments must have felt to Josh. I hope that these comments were not a reflection of how you really feel. I wish your family a very happy new year and continued success!

Idea for Josh: Establish a relationship with a Pella Window Trade Sales Consultant. They sub-contract with you for window installation. And, you can still be self-employed as a construction/remodeler. My window install was exactly like this. The Pella Consultant could count on good work & my installer was self-employed doing the same type of construction you do, but did Pella window installation as well. Two streams of income using your skill sets. When Pella sub-contracts, it's less expensive to the buyer. LMK, if you'd like a contact name to talk about this. My Pella guy is in North Dakota. Just a thought. 😊

I agree with Josh that learning a new job after doing something for years is very STRESSFUL! God puts things and people - and yes, jobs in our lives for a reason and it may be years down the road when you finally realize what that lesson or reason was for but it will come. There are no mistakes when allowing yourself to grow and try new things. You never know where you will flourish until you venture out and find out where you are supposed to be. Having a new word for the year is a great idea- Being Kind, might start with not calling your life partner a failure. That was a bit harsh. Josh has always been supportive of your ventures and your need to grow.

I want to add I say that with understanding of what you ment Megan. I've been there with a very good loving husband who has made the changes we have needed through time. All changes trying to protect our family from trying to escape bad employers stressing the family to just trying to make more to provide better. Mine has been a videographer, a carpenter, a restaurant employee, a nursing home assistant, to a coffee roaster and cafe owner now. I know the feeling of worrying family members are going to judge us as if we are failing every change that is made. I know the feeling of not wanting your husband to fail in a protective loving way. I'm learning to let go of worrying what others may think and being thankful I have a husband willing to do whatever it takes to provide for us.

Josh in no way failed here. I love his attitude so much. He was so nice about rejecting & banning the failure concept when many men would have had their egos deeply wounded. You’ve got a diamond of a man there. Megan you are so driven and that is a wonderful thing when our eyes stay on the ultimate prize….and it ain’t who amasses the most assets or looks the picture of success. I feel like you’re straddling the world’s definition of success and the Bible’s definition of success. There’s nothing wrong with earning a good living or amassing wealth (I truly wish you all you desire)-- but our heavenly crowns won’t be calculated on financial “success” or seamless careers. The balance feels just a little off here. Not much, just a tad.

Don’t discredit those short quiet moments with your husband. Early in my marriage it was recommended to my husband and I that each day, the first five minutes when we were each home to stop , position ourselves face to face and connect about our day, often children run when daddy comes home and they get priority. According to this counselor it is good for them to know that mom and dad need to connect first, then they get attention. This was hard for us at first but did help each of us to feel important to each other. Whatever works for you, but small connections can mean big differences.

Happy New Year! Sounds like you both know where you want to be headed and you will get there. Hope Josh brings on an apprentice to help him with the more physical aspects of the job. Some days he definitely had circles under his eyes. There must be some young men who would love to learn the trade until your own boys are teens. Glad Josh got to experience a different work style in the food and restaurant business and got to see a good business run well. Not sure if his brothers ever talk about their driving experiences, but up here in Massachusetts driving is not nearly as care free as it used to be. Weird things happening out there. It sure wouldn't be fun around here to have to deal with every day all day. God bless the baby on the way. Hope you have an easy delivery and a fun bonding experience with the new baby. Thinking "perspective" or "positive" might be a good word since Megan thought Josh wanting to change back to his old job was a "fail", but Josh recognized it was a successful personal growth that helped him see what his gifts are and what he really wants. There are two ways or more to look at most things and exploring other "perspectives" before settling on a conclusion will help us to be kind and positive and most importantly, closer to the truth. I probably need about 12 words myself!!! Lots to work on....😂Merry Christmas! In our faith it is celebrated for 8 days as a major feast, so until those wise men arrive it's still Christmas. (and the "season" of Christmas is even longer.) Is that the same for you?

My husband and I rarely have access to babysitting, so we'd just put on a movie for the kiddos and chat in another room. I try so hard to be uplifting and his biggest cheer leader 😊 while of course being realistic too when it comes to major life changes. Please don’t say fail to Josh in relation to what he tried to do. All power to him for trying something new. Things aren’t always as suitable as they maybe seemed but not a fail at all.

I agree with Josh - it’s never failure when you see lessons learned. He’s a keeper for sure!

I applaud Josh for trying a new career, learning about running a business, deciding that that particular career isn't for him. He can take what he learned, apply it to his construction business and do bigger and better things. He did not fail!

I truly enjoy seeing Megan’s updates. But not sure saying Josh failed is very supportive. I think she’s too hard on Josh publicly.
