I entirely agree with dislike #2 about Survivor being too simple. I feel like if they made it so we had to gather gasoline/wrenches etc. but then decrease gen repair time, it would make the game feel much more refreshing and potentially stop 3 gen killers. I would also love if they added more interactive elements, similar to how the bell in the gas station goes off after entering. Maybe like a pet Maurice animation, and something interactible with the carnival itself.

An Idea I've had for a while has been for additional survivor obstacles they can vault depending on the player character height. Dead Dawg Saloon shack has a knee high gap on one of the walls so why not let players crawl slowly through it? Shorter models can essentially slide through it at rushed vault speed when running with tall characters restricted to slow or medium crawl at best. Add a bunch more like that to other maps. Short/Medium height killers follow the same interaction with Tall being restricted to a lunge grab or hit. For tall kings we can add small ledges or gaps like a missing AC on the wall for them to leap through with the same restrictions applied to short/med survivors and killers. Add a feature where instead of the routes being blocked by the entity just have them take limited uses before breaking and becoming inaccessable for the remainder of the trial and killers can remove 1 "health" from them per break animation too.

I love the idea of limited use obstacles vs the Entity blocking them. It would force Survivors to conserve more than just pallets. The obstacles having different interactions based on height is interesting too, it would give more meaning to the Killer height stat and definitely lead to variety in which Survivor you chose. I’d like to see a game mode where the trial plays out as normal but both killer and survivor perks are completely randomised by whatever ones that character has available. You wouldn’t get meta builds unless you were lucky and it keeps it interesting seeing what set up you’re given.

I think a big problem that also ties into getting mad at perk picks and rulebooks, is the prisoner's dilemma: the killer and survivors can choose to either bring meta and play mean, or not bring meta and go easy on the other side. The most fun would be had if both sides just went in to have fun without stacking annoying meta perks, but both sides are aware that the other side is very, very likely to stack 4 adrenalines or use heavy gen slowdown which effectively forces everyone into picking meta and creating a less fun situation, also making people feel like they can't risk messing around a little with a niche perk or strategy as it could easily lose them the game. This is definitely frustrating, even more so for people who thoroughly enjoy certain non-meta picks (i.e. trapper mains). Also, the feeling of being out-perked is awful, as there are simply times when you played better than the other side but their perks won them the game anyway.
@archael7807

The thing is, that playing a non-meta build, and with no intention of weaty gameplay, you just have to be aware that you will loose sooner or later. Its more common to approach more sweaty enemy. You can, and should risk loosing if you want to have fun, and should not tie your fun with win conditions. Its at least what im doing while playing.

I'm six months late to my reply, but you make a good point. I wonder, do you think a division between a ranked and unranked mode may help? i.e. would those who gravitate towards being sweaty and using meta perks to win also gravitate then to ranked, leaving unranked to be more of those who just want to have fun with non-meta builds? Or do you think it would make no difference?
@EE-one-D

@@theARoberts I think it could help but absolutely wouldn't resolve the issue, unless they fundamentally prevent meta usage somehow in the casual gamemode (perk bans? limited loadout?) which would raise the issue of player expression and build freedom.. hard to say whether that's worth it, and it could certainly lead to backlash

They had to add MMR, because many players treat it as a competitive game. With MMR you aren't even really safe from competitive opponents, but its definitely better with MMR, because back when there was no SBMM you were forced to bring certain perks instead of having some fun. At a point the game became so unfun to me I didn't touch it for over a year until SBMM was added. And now my longest break was a few months. So in my opinion MMR helped the game by a large margin.

Here's something I do that might help with your Dislike 5: I like having different builds and loadouts on each of my survivors, allowing me to think of each of them as a different 'class'. Like if I want to run a healing build, I'll select Claudette or Yoichi, who have two different healing builds that emphasize different things. If I want to run an item build, I'll choose Ace, who I've build entirely around Plunderer's Instinct (I try to build each character based on their lore so it fits them more and really lean into the pseudo class system). I have builds for everyone. Jill has an endurance tanking build. Nancy has an endgame build. Bills is all about unhooking. Mikaela has an anti-totem build (I like the irony). Building each Survivor into their own identity really helps me differentiate them without there needing to be an actual game-changing system in place.
@theARoberts

I do like your solution here. I'd love for you not to have to use that as essentially a work around, but I also love the idea of building a loadout according to the character's personality. Your ironic Mikaela build cracked me up too 😂well done. Also, sorry it took me so long to reply!

my opinion on mmr is that is fundamental BECAUSE dbd SHOULD be a party game, but it isn't... thats the issue is at the same time we removed MMR claiming it to be a benefactor, we've also now hit a point in DBDs meta where it feels competitive everytime you play just to win and this idea that dbd isn't about "winning" or "surviving or getting enough kills" is absolutely blind imo as thats one persons experience. to sum dbd down to blood points being your objective sounds like a desperate attempt to cope with the fact that DBD is just simply not a winning or losing game anymore anyway because you always sort of lose....
@theARoberts
7 ай бұрын
That is the constant struggle isn't it? The game can be played both as a party game or "to win" and there's not a great way to separate those who want to do one from those who want to do the other. You can go from one trial where the other side just wants to farm BP, to a trial where the other side is playing sweaty with all meta perks, to a trial where the other side wants to meme around while still playing the objective. I suppose MMR supplies a limited fix for this, theoretically separating based on skill, but then it makes it harder when a high skill player wants to ease off relax. Good points, I appreciate your comment, and sorry it took me 6 months to reply!

I actually like survivors being "skins". Lets me play who I want to, instead of trying to game some kind of an advantage.

I can appreciate why you'd feel that way. To explain further, I don't want it to be something that forces you to play someone you don't want to, just motivates us to try others. But I get that it doesn't interest everyone.

@@theARoberts Yeah, it's something people will either like or dislike. As killer I don't stress about my performance too much, but as survivor I'm keenly aware of being part of a team. I feel like I have to try harder than I otherwise might.

I don't like about the game is giving survivor a perk that gives him second chance or you need hit 3 time to down a survivor just a help of one perk and I don't like the killer can camp 3 gen the genarator should be so far then each other and I like about dead by daylight is behaviour bringing the monster type of original killers which is the game needs and other thing I love about DBD is dbd can't not be balance forever there will something will stop to balance the game like Gabriel soma bring mind blowing perks in the game which becomes meta like David so if behaviour bringing one side unbalanced perks then I think dbd will never ever be balance so yes that's it

I get the frustration with the second chance perks, though I feel like they've brought most of those to a pretty good balance now. Old Dead Hard was too OP. 3 gen used to take either the Survivors messing up or the Killer putting in some serious strategic work, but then certain Killers started releasing that could create and hold them with relative ease. Now it's definitely annoying. I agree too, the balance of this game really is in its imbalance. The game itself is going to be impossible to balance fully. With too much RNG in the game, one side will always have the upper hand.

12:04 oh hell nah im not going to respect the “skill” that survivors have in our current W key meta. people instead of looping are just holding w with made for this. im not going to respect people for bringing brand new part cus round end really fast, faster then 10 mins ( everage match ) edit: lightbron is only anoying cus you get no value from flashlight, there js alot of fun in saving your friends with a flishlight or making a build that works only with flashlight.

Can you blame someone for running an effective perk effectively though? It's one thing to not like the W key meta, I can definitely resonate with you on that. A perk can be OP or not fun to go against, but that's not the players fault. In those cases, making our complaints known to BHVR is the course, not bickering with each other or blaming the other side.
