I am a white man , Australian, and i go overseas lots, mainly to Asia, sometimes my friends come here to see me. When I go to an Asian country I am always referred to as a foreigner, before my friends started coming to Australia I told them that when they stepped off the plane they would not be called or treated as a foreigner, they didn't beleive me, but they do now.

Yeah, soul food would be hard to find here. We just don't have that food culture is, but if any Americans want to come over and set up some soul food restaurants, we would love it! Also, some proper Mexican food please! This is your first video I've seen and found you wonderfully engaging and fun to watch. Immediate subscribe!

There is now some pretty decent Mexican options. Try Nu by Nativo in Glebe for oaxacan. For Birria go to Tacos Muchacos in Redfern. And Rosa Cienfuegos talamaria in Dulwich hill for authentic food and Mexican groceries

@@ThomasinaMyresa Sorry, but "microaggression" is a term used by people who need to be victims but in fact aren't. If somebody says or does something negative based ONLY on your race, it should be dealt with. People are sick of being afraid to open their mouths. Do the right thing and preach a bit of strength and fortitude rather than looking for something that isn't there. If I'm wrong, give me an example. Or am I racist for asking a question?
@ThomasinaMyresa

@@derekgleeson1353 you didnt ask a question. You made a false statement. Just bc you don’t experience something directly, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I was fortunate enough to experience nothing but kindness in Sydney but I know a few people who cannot say the same, and I will not discount their experiences

I dont doubt there are racists here. And if you or your friends have been on the receiving end thats awful and feel bad for you. But IMO, with those exceptions, Australias not a racist country overall. But I also have to say a lot of Australians can be very blunt almost to a fault and dont take sh**t from anyone. And that will more than likely be in reaction to what they might see as arrogance rudeness, BS, pretension and taking yourself too seriously. If you (not you personally) come across as loud pushy and demanding with NYC expectations you'll get a cold shoulder or a snide comment or just get told to pull your head in. Not racism just bluntness.. Our banter and teasing can be a bit rough too if youre not used to it. Im thinking the microaggressions as you term it may well be just that. If someone made a comment about what they dont like about Australia the reaction will most likely be if you dont like it go home. Just related to that person and that comment. Not related to race skin colour nationality at all. Just a blunt reaction. Understand you may not want share those microaggressions here but maybe ask an Aussie you what they think. There maybe a simple non racial explanation.
