Good content for someone just starting. One recommendation I have regarding customers so you don’t have to deal with what was requested and the final results is have the customer sign a contract or work order stipulating the work. Also do a walk around the vehicle and noting any damages and have it signed by the customer too. It makes you look more professional and it can save you from the hassle of the “you said you were going to to this and you didn’t!”, or worse you damaged my car and now you have to pay for the repair‼️ Last you need a business license and insurance. I am not going to elaborate more about this but believe me you need it. Good luck to those just starting 👍✌️☮️

That's one of the things. You have to keep cost down a quality up. No one can say they are successful is they are wasting their $$$$ Investing in quality equipment, saves money. I bought equipment and supplies as I need them. No demand, I don't buy it.

Enormously informative video. One part that is particularly poignant is when issues arise with equipment. So, if you're in the industry and you ever get asked by family or friends why you are upgrading to new equipment, and spending lots of money doing it, when the current kit you have works, we'll you're not only improving your efficiency by having the latest equipment, you're also building redundancy into your business for the future too. "Why do you need to spend thousands on that Kranzle pressure washer when the Karcher is still working?" "Well, the Kranzle allows me to get the job done faster, is better built, more reliable and, if it DOES break down or need to go for servicing, I still have the Karcher to fall back on so I'm not losing money!"

Great video, Pan. I had a situation come up a couple of weeks ago where I was doing a ceramic coating on a 1996 Dodge Viper with 5,000 original miles. The customer requested that I clay bar the back of the vehicle, so I did to try and remove a bunch of exhaust soot. Because the vehicle was fiberglass, there was no way of doing a paint depth gauge on the vehicle prior and I ended up removing clearcoat from a couple small sections in the back. This is where integrity comes in and I had to let the customer know what happened. A lot of the marring was able to be cleared up through polishing but I still had to let him know what happened and it was my fault. This was a big life lesson for me because I actually got myself into a situation clay barring this vehicle and not knowing what the risk was beforehand. The customer was happy about the way the car turned out but I learned that just because a customer asks you to do something, starting with the least aggressive method would have been a better way of dealing with that. I am always learning in this game.

Great tips. I have some input. You covered doing the job, but there is a whole lot more to going into a serious business. Your business is making the money, not you! You can only pay what you business can pay you, if that makes sense. If it's costing Say, $5 in supplies and equipment. (Power, water, Soap, brushes rags, towels, cleaners, Power washer etc) that the. Gross expense. You may charge $25. 33 1/3 is profit. The rest is expenses or liabilities. It include state sales tax. Permit if any. Business insurance. Lease of space. The list goes on. If you mobile you will have different expenses. You may store you power washing equipment in a self storage? All these expense have to be included in your price. You can only draw off what your business can afford. Once your making profit regularly, only then can you start making a living wage. Why manu people don't succeed in a business is vac flow problems. Growing your business to slow or to fast. Sit down and make a plan and stick to the plan. Own all of your equipment and everything you invest should be reflected in you General ledger. The equip and supplies are your business. Some is 100% deductible the first year. Other things are depreciated over years. Get a CPA and a business lawyer. You will need them as you grow. CPAs will help you grow and your lawyer will help keep you out of trouble. Do things right. Don't make short cuts in business. If you do! Expect needing your lawyer to be working a lot more. Your lawyer will help you navigate the legalities.

Ive actually been to H20, they have great products and mobile set ups, and while they do sell the best of the best, their customer service needs a lot of help. I asked for info on the brands they sell but kept insisting me to buy the most expensive without any context, or they themselves are unsure how it works. I had seen many local detailers mentioning on their IG stories how they could not refund or credit a defective item bought recently or service a broken piece that they had installed. Im not trying to be a news reporter here, but just wanted to mention that for anyone who may purchase from this business. Other than that, I think these detailers got some work and I can respect that. Probs not the supplier that they are associating themselves with. Good job on the video Pan! Appreciate your vlog from KochChemie ;)

Looking forward to this one as always. Keep up the great content. I was trying to find an email address or something because I wanted to reach out to you about doing a possible collaboration. You detail in Canada and prepare vehicles for harsh winters. I detail the deserts of New Mexico. Even if it’s not with me I think a video highlighting the contrasts in techniques and product durability in the exact opposite extreme climates would be beneficial for a lot of detailers. A lot of detailers don’t have to deal with the problems we face because of our climates and I think that even people in the middle could find a lot of nice info about detailing in differing weather conditions and which products or techniques to use if it’s extra sunny or humid or something.

Awesome video. Can’t stop watching !! But I have a question: As I am living in Germany, it’s not allowed to wash your car at home. The reason is, that they are highly afraid of Water Contamination. If the place where you are is not directly connected to the Sewerage, it’s forbidden and you have to pay a fine. So I can’t to what you guys are doing like I would like to do. I would have to have „Customer“ driving the Car to a place where I am allowed to wash the car myself (Self-Service) and do the exterior there. The complete interior and let’s say polishing and sealing at home. So it’s very uncomfortable starting it before I spend thousands of Euros starting a company and then realize, it’s not working for me or so Any advice??? 😢😢😢❤ PS i know you can do a rinseless wash but it’s not the same as a „normal wash“ is 😢
@PanTheOrganizer

You would have to rent a commercial space for sure if you plan on doing this professionally. Another solution many professionals use is called a water containment mat, to contain the water, and then when you're done washing, use a wet/dry vacuum to suck all of the water and dispose it where it's appropriate in your country, according to your laws and regulations. Here's a link to a water containment mat: amzn.to/3T28HZT And you can see how guys use that kind of thing in this video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/w62stGaea56Ven4

As far as pricing goes, would you charge more for the same service you do on a high end vehicle than you would on a regular basic vehicle because of liability or no, or would it still be the same price since its the same service you’re providing to the customer? Just asking because for example in my line of work, a more expensive car such as ( Lambos, Mc Larens, etc ) not only is a bigger liability, but also more work. So we usually would charge a bit more

Hi Pan, Thanks for the video, I would like to ask which product you've tested has the best water sheeting effect ? (not caring about beading), does CarPro Gliss / CQ SiC add sheeting ?
@PanTheOrganizer
2 жыл бұрын
Gliss is a goot sheeting product. But the majority of sheeters also bead, by definition, as soon as you have good hydrophobics, with water contact angles, depending on how the water hits the paint, you will still always get beading. But there are some products that are designed more for sheeting, like this: bit.ly/3qjStic

One advise please. What's shampoo do you recommend to use to remove old sealants waxes and so on? And also if I would like to apply for example the turtle wax paste ceramic and infused paste wax and after as a topper the flex wax how do you advised me to do it? First the flex wax? Or first the ceramic and graphene infused paste wax? Thanks!
@PanTheOrganizer
2 жыл бұрын
Stripping shampoos alone can't fully remove existing protection. Only machine polishing will guarantee 100% removal. So if you plan on applying a ceramic coating from a glass bottle, machine polishing is crucial to ensure that you remove all previous protections. But if you only plan on applying a wax or sealant, polishing isn't as crucial. Here are a few stripping shampoos that I like: bit.ly/3B46fKL amzn.to/3L4CZIc amzn.to/3RW82bL In the specific combo you are talking about, Turtle Wax recommends to apply the Graphene + Ceramic Paste Wax FIRST, and then you apply the Graphene Flex Wax at the end. That way, you can maintain the protection every other month by simply reapplying a layer of Flex Wax.
