I was called a psedo-feminist just because I commented 'true, it's amazing how we girls can hide our pain' on a girl's post which said "women are not given day off from work on those days.Periods pain is not something we can control yet we smile like nothing happened." The males think that we live in a pseudo-feminist society while the reality is that we still live in a patriarchal society.

@El Cactuar Perspective or ignorance? I must truly have both. When I first saw your response I thought, “huh, I must show this person how we are not truly horrible and how we wouldn’t trample over a human being to reach our greediest potential” but, that wouldn’t be honest of me, would it? That in a desert, with your friends, and only one bottle of water; the greediest would survive. I usually avoid topics like this because the idea of spending my days thinking about the purpose of life, having an existential crisis, or realizing how truly horrific humanity is would probably tear me apart. But, now, at this very moment, I realized that I’m truly horrible myself. I’ve laughed over the death of people, I’ve felt satisfied when a friend of mine falls in the mistake that I’d did so I don’t feel as horrible as I did, I’ve treated people like shit, and yet, even after the unpleasant realization -I still find myself making up excuses for myself. And even that idea went through my mind after I wrote that. Understanding that my generation will affect the next generations is unfortunate but even the idea that I won’t have to deal with it selfishly comforts me. Therefore, the most thoughtful thing I could think of doing at this is to perhaps not have kids or even better, adopt. So my advice is either to change your perspective or accept it. Although those two choices seem different, they still have the same finale. Stop surrounding yourself with negativity, it’s cliche but it’s the truth. Stop watching the news, step away from crappy friends, and gore websites that show you “how cruel can humanity be”. In other words, surround yourself with positivity (Good friends, positive experiences, etc…) and ignorance (not being conscious of the worldwide problems). That might have not satisfied your response. Perhaps you were looking for a person to change your mind, but this, on the little years I've existed or lived (fuck here comes the philosophical questioning), is my response. So if you need someone to change your mind, then keep on searching, I'm sure there is someone more intelligent, knowledgeable, and with more experience than those little 15 years of years, I've lived. Or perhaps, my friend, can you make a change? Can I make a change even? the motivation about changing the world flows on our minds from early childhood, yet we do nothing but whine. Am I right?

Literally happened to me today. Back story : Despite being adult, I've never really learnt how to do makeup before because it's expensive and not allowed during school (and my mother always commented makeup is useless and such before and she never wears it). Also, I have RBF. So, today I actually used makeup to go out (mostly eye makeups) as we're eating out for lunch. I thought it looked good enough since I'm pretty much still considered a beginner and I felt pretty going out for once. While we were eating, a group of women sat nearby (not neighbor table but close enough, no other customers at the time) and started commenting about me among themselves as my sitting position is directly in front of them so they can fully see my face. Not sure if they speak loud or I just have good hearings (because I experienced this often, people around me never seem to hear despite I heard it very clear) but listening to them made me immediately lose my appetite and just want to finish eating quickly and hide my face under the mask because I became too self-conscious. They still keep on talking, until the rest of my family finished eating and leaving the restaurant. About my makeup being too much, my face looking too serious while eating, the fact that I wear my mask immediately after, that I played on my phone and so on. I don't even know them or even look in their direction. Idk why they feel the need to to comment so much about me :(

I've been sexually harassed, pushed onto the floor, called ugly, been told I dress like a boy, laughed at by my grandmother for wearing a crop top for the first time, been told to shut up because I'm a woman, and so much more. I'm sure a variety of women get told way worse comments than I have heard. But they all hurt so much. One day, my mom told me I was pushing my stomach out when I wasn't, and that started my insecurity of thinking I'm fat. Sometimes, being a woman sucks. I just try to stay positive and cherish the people who love me for me and don't care how I look. Which at the moment goes to only my girlfriend.

Sad truth that women are so highly disrespected or that unreasonable expectations are imposed on women. Real people don't do that. And truly real, honest, and respectable men appreciate women for who they are, what they stand for, and don't waste time with pointless opinions of others who are just ignorant. My dad was my biggest bully. Told me I was ugly and ate too much, so I hated myself and at 12 I stopped eating, bleached my hair and became anorexic. He started saying how good I looked, meanwhile I was literally dying and had to be hospitalized. He taught me that abusive relationships were normal, and after taking so much abuse throughout all my teenage years, at 21 I finally learned to love myself and that I was worthy of more. After escaping a 5 yr abusive relationship, I married a wonderful man who is so kind, and I barely speak to my miserable, horrible father. He tried to do the same to my younger sister, and I interviened wherever I could. She raises her kids to know that they are strong, beautiful, and loved above all else. I'd die for those babies.

“It’s probably that time of the month” I hear this way too much..just because I’m emotional, doesn’t mean I’m on my period. Women carry emotions and will eventually lash out due to stress from these emotions; it doesn’t always mean they’re hormones are messing with them, it’s society and the stress they put on them.

“Dress more like a girl” “Wow you’re finally being a girl.” “Be a girl for once and wear a dress.” “You don’t know how much money women pay for those.” “You would make some good money at a bar with those.” “You need to lose weight, a girl shouldn’t be that big.” “That’s a boys thing.” “Girls need to shave.” I hate all of these, I hate them so much. My grandparents tend to push the “be more like a girl” shit and that I need to loose weight. My mom teases me a bit about having a big Chest but she’ll shut up when I start getting uncomfortable. I had the worst time during my middle school Graduation because my grandparents forced me to wear a dress after my mom and I had picked something out I felt good in and liked. I had to keep myself from crying because I was so uncomfortable with how the dress hugged my body and how it felt like nothing covered anything between my legs. Edit: I feel a quick need to say a few things- 1: I’m personally not comfortable in anything tight or showy due to my PTSD issues and I don’t like feeling like I’m in something very revealing because of that. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. I also deal with a lot of self-image issues due to some family Members constantly harassing me over, what I now realize are insignificant, things. 2: I’m heavy built and while my weight says one thing, from what my mom and few friends tell me, the last thing I look is over weight. Unfortunately people like to assume, even when they see me, that “big numbers = Fat” 3: I really appreciate the people who understand the struggle and have given me such good words, it means so so much. I’ve managed to mostly get out some issues since I have more of a choice about the people I can be around. Some issues I have to face still but it’s getting better for me. Something I want to add for anyone dealing with weight issues. While it may be possible to loose some pounds, never focus so hard on the numbers. Numbers lie ALOT I am 240lbs, but the last thing I look is that heavy. Muscle weighs SO much more than fat, even body builders still weigh well into 300’s sometimes. Also women or AFAB are built a bit different. We’ll have a gut because we’re built to carry children, a chest, big or small, will add some extra pounds to a scale, we carry weight on different places and it’s harder for us to loose weight in places we want to. Eating better can help but NEVER starve yourself. It can screw up your metabolism and make you gain weight more than loose it. I know this personally because of my bad meal skipping habits. Being healthy and proportioned is the most important thing. Never focus so hard on numbers, focus on how you feel and what your body needs.

At my Elementary school I’ve had my good and bad moments. There’s a leadership program that I signed up for and in my 4th Grade year, I was working my Tuesday shift like normal, and a little girl in the line I was leading said she wanted to be my sister because I was pretty, I absolutely love her soul, but the teacher wanted all leadership kids to stop leading her class, literally no warnings, nothing. I was devastated when I heard my leadership director/teacher say that the line I was leading, had been shut down because the teacher wanted it that way. My best friend had a teacher do the same thing to her, and I raised my hand when I heard “Who leads ____ _.?” And the director/teacher for leadership then said I would be leading a different line. There were 2 teachers who did that, and my best friend had the other that did it. I’m still mad about it, but I’m mostly sad it happened. Im now almost finished with High School, but I still remember how devastated I was when I got the news. 😕
