Great update. Those customs are looking great. The bumpers look great on the truck. And I think the two tone on the 58 still looks awesome. Nicely done.

Dude, BOTH of these two kustoms are smokin kool. Your truck has given some much needed inspiration. Thank you. I'm REALLY looking forward to January for the reveal of it. Take care my friend and happy modelling. Don😎👍👍

Great question, shopcards are before my time. Hopefully some of the senior community members have the answer.😊

Nice Update Dan! Idk if anyone has come up with who had the first shop cards, it's been asked a few times and I think it dates back nearly 10yrs I think. Did we ever exchange? I don't think we have now that I'm thinking about it. Nice find with the nail fur, there's a few nail things that can be used for modeling like brushes and tape. Another choice that many and myself use for flocking is embossing powder. It's used for card making, usually melted I think but left in powder form looks appropriate and not as much static cling issues. I think I got 14 colors for 17 through Jo-ann fabrics. Should be able to do 4-5 cars easy with each color if save on paper and dump back in. The USACC build looks great, lots of nice work done on it and a '59 Chevy bumper is a great clean universal bumper.

I knew you’d know what that bumper came from! Thanks for the kind words and the tip on embossing powder.

the shop cards remind me of the old station identification cards ham radio operators used to send out

I didn’t even know they did that. Maybe that’s where it came from. Thanks for the comment!

Makes sense, as the age group is similar. People who built models as a kid grew up and dabbled in ham radio where the ID swap is a big thing. Kind of drives the whole hobby in a way, the endless search to tune in some station, chat, and exchange contact info via a hard copy item. Great question though.

Shop cards are the Coin of the Realm for car model KZitemrs to grow and spread the word within the community. But that seems to be the only place. I asked a railroading KZitemr friend about them and she had never heard of them. Another item: stock parts taken and used on something else are a big part of the Kustomizing scene. There are countless examples of this dating back to Desoto hubcaps in the early days all the way to Corvette tailights in the Eighties. The paint on the '58 is awesome, and I am eager to see your USAAC build finished

HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: One of my somewhat homemade tool I use is a palm sander with a variable-speed control in the cord that I flush mounted to the center of my table. Makes sanding down parts easy. Came in handy when I was popping resin. Watch You Later, (MODEL CAR😎MAN CAVE)

Funny, have been thinking about that shopcard phenenomon me too. Woder who started it, me myself dont have any shopcards but i have been really thinking about maybe getting some done and send out to those who want them. Great use of the 59 el camino bumper there! The pickup looks great. And that 58! Wow! Love it!

😂Glad the '58 was 'savable'! It would have been such a waste of a beautiful looking model. I really like the 'sectioned' hood on the '55 Pick-Up! I don't know if I could do such a good job on mine??

Your '58 is really looking good. I don't mind the lessened contrast between the two body colors. It's fine. Shop card....I'd never even seen one before seeing your videos. Maybe I'll make one but not right now. I'm still slogging away at my #kustomsgb build that I started a week or so after your October 1 deadline -- maybe it will be done by December 1: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1I5mvaWPapt-h2Usi=8xYTTeAWRt1zXHT- . Your custom pickup looks great. I like that you're doing more custom work than you've done before. I'll guess that the front bumper is from a '61 Impala just from memory.
