@@sarahvazquezm5955 it’s a peaceful place and lots of fun things to do. However, we have a right-wing government and there is more and more xenophobia among people in Poland. However, Wroclaw is probably one of the most friendly places in Poland for foreigners.

In 1997 I spent several months visiting Rzeszow most Saturdays from where I was living at the time , a small town called Lezajsk. Lezajsk was well known at the time for its locally brewed beer. Other beers I remember from that period include Okocim and Lech, as well as Zywiec. At the time towns like Rzeszow and Lublin had a very different feel from places like Warsaw and Krakow and seemed less developed. Lublin still had bomb damage from WW2. I guess things have improved since 2004 with EU investment.

You focused entirely on the strict centre of the city -- the good thing is, you can visit all of these locations within a single weekend (perhaps even within a day) without any problem. If I had to add one more attraction to the video, the Panorama of the Battle of Racławice would be my choice.

yes indeed the former name of Wroclaw!
@blinkblinkRNB
3 жыл бұрын
@@MemorySeekers Nope, you were actually right. The original name is Wroclaw. But since the city has a rich history many people don't know and have no clue about the Pre-German times. In short "Germany" (or rather: German states such as Prussia) tried to conquer it several times during its existence. Eventually (especially due to the so called "Ostkolonisation" & "Prussian settlement commission" which basically was the big German Migration Period during the 18th and early 19th century for the purpose of "Germanizing" former Polish lands) the city became mainly inhabited by Germans. However, the original inhabitants were Polish Silesian (many escaped to America, example: Texas Silesians because of the Germanization --> which came into effect because Prussia robbed Silesia and other polish parts, so another German occupation started). Anyway: Wroclaw got completely destroyed in WW2 by the Germans, so the old-town was literally rebuilt from scratch (same applies do Gdansk, a city founded by the Polish Ruler Mieszko I. in Poland). You can say: The De-Colonization of Poland is now complete. Remember: Poland is much older than Prussia (and Prussia is older than Germany).

@@macizabok1414 Because technically they were as Poland didn't exist back then (due to Prussia, Russia and Austria waging war against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth). Many Poles who immigrated were often classified as Germans or Russians (which they were on paper, at least). Regardless there are probably mostly ethnic Germans living in Texas now anyway.
