@@andrewmarcdavid I really don't agree. Lenovo has been using the same 2x2W speaker setup for 10 years. I've been using 3 different models with said speaker setup and they're all awful. It's okay if you're in a really quiet environment and you're playing a video with good quality sound, but completely useless if - like me - you live next to a road and you're trying to understand someone in a zoom meeting. (I compared this to the Dell XPS13 and the Huawei Matebook 13s and they get twice as loud and are much clearer)

Thanks so much for reviewing this. Most reviewers wrote off the platform after the 8cxG2. It looks great. Love my Surface Pro X but I'd like a clamshell next. Will wait for a consumer premium laptop with a higher resolution display. I read the 8cxG3 is so good you can run Chrome under emulation without major issues. Over the last 2 years all my apps are now native arm, I use Edge, so it's a non-point for me. The only app I use daily that's 64-Bit still, WhatsApp, runs fine too. I use a Wintel laptop for work but for personal use could never go back to Intel/AMD. Battery just isn't good enough and I hate fan noise.

I suspect Intel and AMD already have ARM prototypes that can rival this - if not beating it by big margin. If you think of it AMD and Intel architecture at their core are also built on RISC. On top of that they then have built a sophisticated translation layer that translates x86 CISC into internal RISC instructions. This translation layer - sophisticated - but utterly useless - is really what keeps others out of competing in x86 market. And AMD and Intel are highly motivated to keep x86 alive and well popular. If they started competing in ARM market - they'd only make ARM more popular and move some customers away from x86 into ARM.
@sbrazenor2

The reason that Microsoft is not doing much for this is because it's a very small niche market, but that's because of a bad deal. They have an exclusivity agreement with Qualcomm that's still in effect and until that finishes, they're kind of stuck, so they're not doing a lot of development to support it. If they were smarter, they would do something like the Apple Rosetta II framework to create better compatibility for the applications. I can run X86 applications on my M1 Macbook, because it is able to modify the code on the fly or upon installation to optimize it for the M-series chips.

Thanks for the great review, surprisingly few elsewhere of this pretty remarkable device. My thoughts.. Would have been good to see more deep dive on software compatibility, I've seen comments saying things like support for printer drivers and other specialist software is ropey. But clearly strides are being made. Holy moly that microphone is basically unusable, I'd be embarrassed to go into a meeting with that. Hopefully it's a software issue, but if Lenovo is shipping stuff to reviewers like that, god help us lowly consumers. The one finger lid lift test is a good metric for engineering attention to detail. Looks like this might unfortunately go in the same category as my (very sloppily made) x1 yoga gen 1. This is just about perfect, as in I have never anything come as close, but the price... Seriously? Other than that, I hear the screen is not the brightest, which is a shame, but should be fixable, if you really want to, though my preference of 3:2 vs 16:10, if I have to choose between the two, is not, and then there's the hinges, that does not allow for tablet mode, which is no biggie for me, but certainly a nice to have, and I see no reason why not. On the other hand, it pleases be greatly that one has the option to NOT have touchscreen, which is just about one of the most moronic ideas, ever, on a laptop. If it was convertible, the if would be different, but it is not. Lastly, it comes with Windose, and as few, in my not so humble opinion, who are willing to pay this kind of money, will actually want to run anything remotely resembling the afore mentioned product, that is pretty much unforgivable, though of course, entirely expected. If everything goes to plan, I should be able to afford it, within a couple of months, but I am also very tempted to wait for the successor, which will hopefully address those few remaining shortcomings.

Really? How far behind does one have to be to run Microsoft Office and statistically software. Or do basic office and school work. Apple is the one behind with no touch screen, pen support, 2in1 design, 180 degree screen, OLED screen, face unlock, repairability, upgradabiltiy, etc. And lets not forget all the class action lawsuits filed against MBs for poor build quality: cracked screens, connectivity issues, green screen, keyboard issues, thermal throttling (and that is just in the last 5 years). No wonder MBs still only have 8% global market share (post-M1 chips) and laptopmag ranked them 10th out of 11 laptop makers. Finally, 99% of businesses, coporations, educational institutions, nonprofits, and ngos across the entire planet uses Windows. And they keep their computing devices for 5 to 7 years so chip sets do not matter. You are welcome for the free education.

@@andyH_England no one wants MBs which is why they have 8 percent market share. Why is that so hard for you to understand? And no rational person buys iPads which is why their units sales have dropped by around 50%in the past 9 years. %. Finally no one buys tech at full price, nor do people care about silly benchmarks.

@@RK-um9tu I use a 16 inch MacBook Pro with apple silicon for work and I’ve using my iPad Pro for content consumption and on the go productivity. Nothing else compares On The market. What I really want is a badass arm laptop that has apple aesthetics which runs Linux. That would be my dream machine.

@@bthegawd8113 Another fact-free Apple fanboy in need of an education, so let me help you. 1. You have to buy TWO devices when rational people only buy ONE. 2. MBs only have 8% market share so clearly the vast majority of people think a lot of devices are much better options. 3. MBs have 20th century hardware (no touchscreen, no pen support, no 2-in-1 design, no 180 degree screen, no face unlock, no upgradability, poor repairability, no OLED screen, etc.) 4. MBs have terrible build qualtiy which is why class-action lawsuits are filed just about every single year (cracked screen, green screen, connectivity issues, keyboard issues, thermal thorttling and that is just in the last 5 years). 5. MBs battery life are ranked #4, #9, and #10 by laptopmag which means M1 chip FINALLY put MBs on par with best Windows laptops. 6. Laptopmag ranked Apple 10th out of 11 laptop makers which is why 99% of business, corporations, governments agencies, nonprofit, ngos across the entire planet use Windows computers. 7. iPads market share has dropped from 80% in 2013 to 34% in 2020, so again a lot of people think there are much better options. Also please explain how someone "consumes content"? Normal people watch or listen to content and consume food...You are welcome for the free education.

@@andyH_England Stop with the nonsense, you do nothing but trash non-Apple products across all these Windows and Android review videos. Funny how you can't provide any facts in your posts, but you are quick to call people names. who actually do have facts.

Way too expensive for what the specs are. This should be around $500-700 at the most easily. I hate to say it, but a M1 Macbook would be a better buy lol I say that knowing that Apple are also way overpriced as well.

Windows has over 35 million programs/applications. The overwhelming majority are not x86. Also, 99.999% of x86 applications work on ARM via Windows 11. This is why no KZitem provides a comprehensive list of apps that don't work.
