Who's listening and crying in 2021? This song is like a time machine transporting me back to 1996 when I was in love with someone who simply didn't love me back... I remember realizing I was in love for the first time and how amazing that felt and yet how lonely I was because we couldn't be together. A beautiful timeless piece of ART

I get such dark and painful feelings when I listen to this song, and the album, but because it expresses and shares many thoughts and emotions that I have had, and reminds me of personal experiences of my past that I fucking love it! I was going through a very difficult demise of a long relationship shortly after this album came out. I would drink a bunch of whiskey, get high, and listen to this in the dark. It fed my melancholy, but it was also like therapy. Even though listening to it today brings back those feelings and memories I still love it.

I actually was incredibly lucky to see 3eb way back in their prime in the early 2000's, it was epic. At one point of the concert they just brought out a bunch of beanbag type chairs and did a whole acoustic set. It was absolutely phenomenal. This was one of the songs that they played acoustic and I cried, no joke. I was there with my boyfriend at the time but he wasn't exactly the best person so it kinda felt real in that moment. Here i am 20 plus years later and I still cry. It's about letting go of someone you love even though it hurts so much, because you know deep inside that they just aren't good for you. I know that most, if not all of us, can relate to that. One of the best concerts of my life.

I think their music is appealing to all types of people, not just introverts. The reason their music isn't as successful in the mainstream anymore is, in my opinion, because they haven't made anything that even remotely approaches the brilliance of that first record. ...however, that first album was a masterpiece. The kind of thing that'll stick with you your entire life. I'll never forget the Christmas morning I opened a gift to find one of the first CDs I ever owned, and on the front cover of the lyric booklet inside the jewel case shown the image of a woman using her outstretched hand to cover her face, leaving only one intensely focused eye exposed, the whole thing awash in bright red light. I'd only ever heard "Semi-Charmed Life" to that point and I didn't have the slightest idea what any of their other music might sound like. What an incredibly pleasant surprise that album was, start to finish. It was the soundtrack to more than a few summers, relationships, good times and bad. Thanks, mom and dad =)

I first heard this song in 2004. I was a sophomore in high school and I was attending a retreat in preparation for confirmation. We all had to pick a song that really touches the soul and explain why. I chose I Feel Home by OAR, obvious reasons. But someone else at the retreat chose this song. And I’m very glad they did, this shit will bring a tear to your eye.

Summer time and the wind is blowing outside In lower Chelsea and I don't know What I'm doing in this city The sun is always in my eyes It crashes through the windows And I'm sleeping on the couch When I came to visit you That's when I knew I could never Have you I knew that before you did Still I'm the one who's stupid And there's this burning Like there's always been I never been so alone And I've never bee n so alive Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by The cigarette ash flies in your eyes And you don't mind, you smile And say the world doesn't fit with you I don't believe you, you're so serene Careening through the universe Your axis on a tilt , you're guiltless and free I hope you take a piece of me with you And there's things I'd like to do That you don't believe in I would like to build something But you never see it happen And there's this burning Like there's always been I've ne ver been so alone And I've, I've never been so alive And there's this burning There is this burning Where's the soul I want to know New York City is evil The surface is everything but I could never do that Someone would see through that And this is our last time We'll be friends again I'll get over you, you'll wonder who I am And there's this burning Just like there's always been I've never been so alone alone And I've, and I've never been so alive So alive I go home to the coast It starts to rain I paddle out on the water Alone Taste the salt and taste the pain I'm not thinking of you again Summer dies and swells rise The sun goes down in my eyes See this rolling wave Darkly coming to take me Home And I've never been so alone And I've never been so alive

"the surface is everything, but I could never do that. some one would see through that!" that to me is one of their most powerful lines. especially to me in highschool and being autistic, I knew that I couldn't be all these things on the surface that I was supposed to be... mostly because I would know they were fake and I could figure it out, some one else would too, so what was the point in lying to yourself. its all that summed up in one phrase.
