I put my grocery list on my phone calendar so it is with me all the time and I can add to it without looking for a pen. Don't have to carry anything else. Writing it down is a good idea though if your phone gets destroyed or lost. Historical things need to be written down always.

@@davidvogel6359 bad part of using cellphones tho is you get each time more dependent of it and as I heard in a really interesting interview with Cal Newport that's damaging our brains (the excessive use of phones due to having everything on them 😓

@@margy2000 Writing notes in a phone isn’t ruining your brain any more than writing notes on a piece of paper is though. If that’s what he said, he’s misconstruing what research shows. What the research shows is that we’re relying on phones _and their internet access_ to keep us from having to remember anything on our own. With internet, you don’t even have to write something down; you just look it up when you need it. This causes you to not exercise your memory and recall ability which impairs your ability to remember things and creates a dependence on that always connected device that leaves you stuck if you ever don’t have that connection or your device. But writing it down (even in your phone) isn’t damaging your brain. In fact, the act of writing it down actually acts as an extra buffer for remembering what it is that you wrote down, because now you have not just the original memory in your brain, but also the memory of remembering it or needing it and writing it down. That causes it to burn more thoroughly into your brain.

This is just a form of bullet journaling. For those that want this, but want a little better quality, you can always get larger size bullet journals, theyre not all book size, or, if you want to remove pages, although slightly harder to find, they do have ones with perforated pages for removing. Alternatively, keep a glue stick on you to stick pages together. However! Notebooks are incredibly underrated and very, incredibly valid, and can help *so* much when all you need is a simple place to throw all of your tasks in. For this girly? Look up the original bullet jornal videos, totally easy to find. Everything you have here, but with simple, easy to organize and remember bullets. Probably less than ten minutes. You could benefit from it, and if you change nothing? Thats cool! That means you already found something that works perfect for you! But you can always learn and grow, and the original videos are an amazing way to help understand how, and *why* you are helping organize your life.

I’ve been thinking about this since it came out. I’ve come back to say thanks, just scribbled my own version out and my head feels a lot clearer. Thanks for continually making us great content, love from London England! X

I'm a simple planner person. I've used tons of planners over the years. I even made my own life planner 25 years ago, before life planners became a thing. I finally found a simple planner that really works for me. It's the Erin Condren 7 X 9 spiral bound, horizontal life planner. I call it my brain and take it with me everywhere.

Excellent advice. I have a huge stack of expensive journals, planners, budget books, fitness trackers, nutrition journals - even one that's meant to break through procrastination. Not one has been used, because of all the reasons you stated. I'll take your advice, before I succumb to the New Year sales pitches again. 😊

Cool. I just spent 3 weeks looking for the perfect planner to no avail. I bought a blank notebook instead. ❤

I love seeing people using plain notebooks as planners because I've been doing that for years. It wasn't until the rise of social media did I even see these insane thirty dollar planners. I literally had no idea expensive planners existed. Imagine spending thirty bucks on a silly planner just because it has someone's name on it. Designer planners are ridiculous but to each his own.

Been spiral bound notebooking for three years. Your system works well if you are not cursed with the time blindness you get free with every case of adhd.... trying to figure out what I can get done in an hour or a day or a week is flat out stumping!

love this a lot. so many of us have been seduced by the shiny pretty planners. i wish i could do a completely blank notebook, but theyre a little to unstructured for me. so i use less expensive slightly structured planners, they seem to be best for my brain...hopefully ill make myway to effectively use the $1 notebook 🙂cheers and thanks for a great, functional planning video!

I have been doing this for over 20 years but the 5 * 8 which usually has enough space for whole year. I save them so I can always look back just like notes. Very useful.

I 100% agree! I started planning using a small lined notebook like this which seemed to work. But then I wanted a fancy planner which was a disaster. I stopped using it in May because it was too constrained like you mentioned. I might get a regular sized notebook like this because I need organization again

Mom of 2 boys with Autism. I use the Happy planner system. We have many therapy appointments each week as well as Dr. appointments. I use it because it is my fun and even my boys love seeing it. I also use one in our home school. It is all pretty and makes me happy. I have now added on as our main bill plan.

I did the same when I homeschooled my kids. I tried every planner around but the $1.00 notebook worked the best.
