Most cars from 1966 were designed with bias ply tires in mind, but nowadays, almost all the tires available for cars are radials. Because of this, it is significantly more difficult to turn the steering wheel when stopped or going very slow, when cars of that era now have radials and no power steering. I think, that a caster adjustment may help make it easier? It's part of what they were talking about, when around 1970, cars were sometimes marketed as having "Radial Tuned Suspension".

I drive a non power steer vehicle; I got the alignment modified to make it easier to steer at low speed and also run narrower tyres on the front wheels; combined, it's much easier to park.

Driving a car with no power steering is easy, if a little different. You turn the steering wheel at the same time when the car is either moving forward or reverse. Not hard to do, though no as easy as power steering. Note most cars had skinnier tyres back then.

In high school, mid 1970s, my friend Max and I rode our bikes to his uncle's house nearby, and around the side, hidden away was a 1966 Belvedere like this one, but in the off-white color. Max lifted the hood to reveal a gigantic round air cleaner hiding 2x4-bbl carbs atop a factory 426 street Hemi, backed by a 4-speed and a Dana rear. He said his uncle parked it because he couldn't afford the rear tires which didn't last long, or the gasoline in those '70s oil embargo times. With 3 carb tags, was it perhaps originally a three two barrel setup? I used to work on an all-original 1967 Barracuda S which had the 383 and the tri-duece setup, with the A883 4-speed. It was owned by a little old lady in Belmont or San Carlos California back in around 1988 or so, and she would bring it to our shop for a "tune up" every few months because it would develop a misfire. Her husband (who bought the car new) had passed away, and this was her daily driver, as she had kept it in memory of her husband. True to form, she drove it like a little old lady, and would foul the plugs every couple months because she never ran it past 2500 RPM or so, and never got on it. We would change the spark plugs and charge her a nominal fee because she was such a sweet lady. Eventually, I told my boss that if we just went out and "blew the cobwebs out of it" when she brought it in, we wouldn't have to keep changing the dang plugs. He agreed, and said "take it for a rip"! I did just that, of course, and that Barracuda S LOVED IT! So did I to be honest. It did have the Twin-Grip rearend (I think that's what Chrysler called it), so you had to be a bit careful, otherwise it would step sideways. It still wore it's original white paint, and had the original blue bucket seat interior. I don't think there was a flaw on that car, and I remember it having like 70-something thousand miles on it. Of course, after a while, she stopped showing up, and we assumed she had either given up driving or had passed away. I often wonder what happened to that sweet old lady and that sweet (but badass) Barracuda S. Great memories, as always, Bill! Thanks, man. You rock!

Had a family friend that ran the local Chrysler dealer. He was a big fan of all things 383 and specd a lot of his inventory with them. I’ve owned my share big block Mopars and the 383 imo was the best of the big inch Mopars on the street. They respond to mods really well and the rpm spun up quicker than the heavier reciprocating mass that a 440 brought to the table. 383 with a manual trans is an excellent combination.

Power seats, windows, steering, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, A/C...and a 383 with a giant thermoquad 4 barrel carb...and 727 torqueflight automatic...the 383 is a torque-filled, but still decently rev-happy engine very under-rated. The 383 is the perfect MOPAR engine. Yes, the 426 is legendary but it can be overkill for a daily driver. Plus the 426 is more than 200 pounds heavier than the 383 and that can really impact the handling of the car. The 383 in OEM configuration has plenty of 'passing power' and can easily maintain interstate speeds. But, if you want to go nuts with a 383 you can build a monster version with so much power that you actually fear it. Not just respect the power, but 'fear' the power.

Somebody in Finland ordered the only 4 door Hemi Belvedere in the world in 1967. It's still around and I've heard its getting a full overhaul, but I don't know for certain.
