Still, in no instances removing Denuvo made the game worse by any margin, apart from one, which was only a maximum frametime spike on a single game that did not have a benchmarking tool meaning minimum / maximum frametimes couldn't be measured consistently, but average frametime could, and in that regard, the no Denuvo build won.

I'd recommend a 120.00 usd motherboard. I'd also recommend an X5650 at least with a 5.0ghz overclock. Unfortunately with these 1366 motherboards, you pay for what you get. An OEM mobo just isn't worth it considering you get 9600k or 9700k performance from the X series 1366 Xeons with an overclock. Also you need a minimum of 16gb of ram. For some reason the ddr3 ram on current titles need more gb to keep up with ddr4, at least with game performance. 16gb 1866 or 1600mhz ddr3 ram is equivalent to 8gb of 2133mhz ddr4.

Word of warning using the adaptors to install better psu units.I did exactly that recently when i built my son a budget pc..It works fine however .when shutting down the pc the cpu and case fans do not shut off.Meaning you have to switch the psu off at the back .Linus tech tips also had this issue in the latest scrap wars.

I am so used to hearing about the x56 series. I didn't know there was other ones. I got one of those boards for 45 with a case and i7-940 in it. One of these days I mean to put a x5660 in and overclock the hell of it. These cpus can be overclocked so much.

if You are reading this comment in 2022 on wards, it is Best for you to buy Intel Xeon with AVX2 instruction set available on it (Most likely from Haswell Family like Core i7 4790K) As the year goes by, they will get cheaper. Just get any secondhand Intel Xeon capable of AVX2 instruction set, because they're typically 6 Cores 12 Threads or more. And will still kick apps and games in 2022 no problem. Oh and the most important thing, it can handle Unreal Engine 5 pretty smoothly. So you can make video game with UE5 editor.

My server has a 10 c0re, 20 thread E5-2650 v3 , socket 2011 cpu, I paid 50$ for it on Ebay, It's rocking 32 gb ram, and a GTX980 on an Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, :P It's good at video rendering, but it can also game just fine...

For the price of this chip, with a decent card and 16gb of ram....Yea you could make a pretty good gaming machine, which is really good for people on a budget.Which in this age currently 2021, yea...There is a need for making your money stretch as far as possible.

I can attest to the capability of gaming on x58 Xeons. The X5680 in particular is one of those decent price for performance parts. Also if anyone is else is cheap like me I would recommend an X79 mobo with the E5 2690. Thank you @RandomGaminginHD for showing people that these things are still valid.

You can access bios additional configs via the manager control. These systems are designed for networks not stand alone ;) Check the hpe website for software. HP don't tend to use be spoke power supplies. It is the older 20pin is it not? And the rest are the same? The 1650 super won't run well on the z400 and under perform.(a lot). A 1050 would have been a better match. The performance, while 2.6ghz they. Do boost higher. I have 8core 16t servers, they do the job and are nothing special. I have VM's windows and found it to be good, and they render well aa they are based on the i79xx CPU. They are also thread and channel bound, you will have to check yours, but I think you maybe 3channel, so you may want 6 sticks to get "optimal performance". Getting the cheap Xeon is not great the top ends hold some value, but the boards (ATX or eATX ) are costly. There is one currently £35 on facbay. But it's old and won't support GPUs etc. There are of course the 2011 1366, and 1156 boards. But like for like the Xeon are the affordable choices or better.

I'm using a x5650@3.8Ghz on my secondary pc, paired with 12gb of ram@1900mhz triple channel and RX470 4Gb. The cpu performs exactly the same in apps like my main i7-4770k@4.2ghz, not bad for a 15$ cpu.

If you can run a E5645 you can run an X5650 which has a 3.06Ghz boost clock and offers more performance for little more. The Dell Precision T3500 is a better choice for Workstation because the PSU is 525W and they tend to sell for less. I picked up one recently for just £28, complete with a pair of 500GB drives. Although the Xeon it came with was shockingly terrible :-D :-D Cheap to replace though.

That CPU and board are both capable of running the RAM in triple-channel, how much of a performance increase would 12GB in triple-channel be over 8GB in dual-channel?

This was done to the death... This is the correct approach tho, the overclocked, on expensive motherboards just don't cut it anymore... That pc is cheap enough to deserve an higher clocked Xeon and that gpu is really stupid, there are better ones, for much cheaper.

You need at least 16gb of ddr3 for modern games and honestly these 1366 need an overclock. My xeon X5690 with a 5.1ghz overclock keeps up just fine single core with a stock i5 9600k and hits 1400 on the r15 multi core score. But for 30 bucks you're basically getting a 9600k or 9700k in game performance with an overclock and 120.00 usd for a motherboard. Most certainly cheaper than the current cpus i5-i7s with motherboard and ram. Far cheaper. And yes a X5650 or X5690 are more than capable of 4k gaming.

You are only using dual channel ram right? Also bearin mind that there are 2 different 400 Motherboards. One with 4 dimm slots and one with 6 ... The latter supports a wider range of cpus and its considered better all around.. Now slap a W3680 and overclock it with throttlestop and u will be surprised !!!!!

You should test an e5 1650 This is an 6core xeon with 12 threads and an open multiplier. My reached 4.8GHz on all core. But you will need a good motherboard and power supply because this thing will suck over 200W on cinnebench when overclocked.

The cheap 1366 motherboards are now firmly showing on ebay, can get a new SODIAL one for £30 which if I sells a couple of my watches means I will be getting one and why stop at 8 or 16gb, these motherboards can run server RAM so 32gb is prob going to make these 6 corer's shine despite being slow DDR3. Wished I could say "oh I got this super expensive card just lying around, kicking its heels waiting for something to put it in" I can't afford to upgrade either my 750ti or my 780 lol and my eight core Vish is def showing its limitations and struggling to play humble World of Warcraft without turning the settings down to horrible. If no bills get in the way next month and get off cheaply with eldest's birthday I am planning to snag a RX570, my nvidias really are creaking and both machines are on 24/7 hehe
