A yoga session at JAL yoga led to a severe shoulder injury. The repercussions of this incident have left me with persistent discomfort, including cracking and popping sensations in my shoulder, as well as ongoing numbness and chronic pain, significantly impacting my daily life. It has been more than 2 months after the injury and I have been living with these unpleasant symptoms everyday. A yoga instructor overextended my shoulders without my consent (my back was facing him), he used his feet to push and force my shoulders into a stretch which my body was clearly not ready for. Despite the class being labeled as beginner-level, my experience was entirely different and resulted in a significant injury. The question arises: should a beginner be subjected to such awkward stretches that lead to injury? In the aftermath, I sought medical attention, incurring considerable expenses for consultations and ongoing physiotherapy.
