FYI, if you create a mold that didn’t work out or one that is no longer acceptable, chop it up into small pieces use it as filler around a new mold pour, you’ll use less mold making materials and great way to recycle silicone. I believe there are people on YT who demonstrate this. Someone showed me in a class I took yrs ago.

I’m just jumping in here 👋 Robert Tolone channel.. he’s been making molds as a professional for 50ish years. The past few months he’s been doing a lot of 3D printing so scroll back a little bit. But yah.. he has sooo much knowledge & super friendly. Just the tips & tricks in each video are amazing to gather. Thanks for sharing.. idk how I landed on your video 😂 Edit: Lia Dia.. I’m already subbed! Lmbo 🤣. I thought your voice sounded familiar.

Hi Nadia. Great idea with cookies cutter. My advice is when you have ready mold I would pour thin layer of silicone at the bottom so it will level and cover all irregularities.

Once I was making a mold and ran out of silicone. It took 2 day to get more. Finished out the mold with new silicone and it worked out great. You pushed the cutter into silicone. Try not doing that the only thing is you would need to add weight to cutter so no leaks. Great job. hugs Sheryl 💙🎨💙

Hi Nadia, your mild turned out beautifully and that purple is gorgeous ♥️. If you use packing tape and place the cookie cutter on top of it, (contact paper, works also), you then go around the edge of cookie cutter with hot glue, to properly seal it. You can then pour resin, inside the cookie cutter, to the depth you want, with This will then be your blank resin piece, to make all future silicone molds from. I hope this helps and is easy to understand. I love your art and your channel. ♥️🙏💐💐💐💐♥️

Thank you Fiona. 😊 I've never tried to pour resin into a metal object that I then needed to remove, as it seems resin sticks decently well to metal. But maybe with mold release that could work. Definitely a possibility with plastic molds that flex. In any case, it's an interesting idea💕

I have those cookie cutters from a Sophie and Toffee kit. I set the cookie cutters down on tape, put another smaller cookie cutter inside and poured resin between the two. I made some nice ornaments to hang and I made shakers out of a few. You made lovely molds. i had not thought of making molds of these. I used these as the molds. (I used silicone cake pans to pour resin by the way. Just as protection in case of leaks.) You could put pictures on the resin shapes. Terrific holiday ornaments.

@LiaDiaDesigns

I haven't tried molding a glass piece yet, but I would think you wouldn't need to coat it at all.. silicone doesn't stick to glass, so you should be fine to use as is... just be sure to clean the glass from oils or fingerprints
