@@ciphergalm1174 It has to do with the enforcement of FAA Order 5190.6B at airports that receive FAA funding (most of them). I am not sure when it was written, but apparently the FAA has gotten much more active about enforcing it. Basically the airport will lose FAA funding if they rent hangars for non-aeronautical use. I was given the exact same answer at several airports a couple of years ago when looking to rent a hangar for my cars. There are some "creative ways" around it though... and with the downturn in the aviation industry and a resulting excess of vacant hangars in some areas, those airports are more receptive to helping with those "solutions". In this case though, I am guessing these are privately owned hangars and there are some sort of guidelines regarding mixed use (home/hangar), but I don't know any of the details on any of that. These could also be some sort of long term land leases that allow for a privately constructed/owned buildings, or it could even be some sort of private land/hangar with airfield access. Where there is money, there is usually a way!

@@BrianCollierSr Lloyd Stearman Field Airport is Privately owned in Bentley KS.....I have seen golf carts driven down that runway from the houses on the west side to get to the restaurant on the NE side of the airport. There are many hangers here that have residential homes built inside. It's actually an incredible field, well maintained, and very active. Runway was recently extended (doubled in length) to accommodate small business jets.

There is a special tool for aligning wheels on hubs without studs (which was provided with both of my w203 c-class mercs), it's a 4" alloy rod with a thread on one end and a knurled section for grip, you simply thread it into one of the holes then the wheel slips over and is ready aligned for the other bolt positions. mine is behind a trim panel in the boot in a moulded panel along with the wheel brace, the jack and the special bolts for fitting the spacesaver steel wheel.
