It’s mentally and emotionally draining and can cause severe mental health problems for people dealing w an infestation. It isn’t light hearted or easy to manage at all. A dear friend of mine ended up like this after losing his mother. Everyone around him knew how he lived and accepted it. However he was taken ill and was due a visit from a social worker to determine if he was going to be allowed home. No-one would help him with his house. When I visited him in hospital he asked if I would help. I said gladly. A lady from a local hotel volunteered with me, and we cleared and cleaned his place in 2 days, got it ready for the social workers and gave our contact details as helpers for him on his return home. It worked. Otherwise he would never have been allowed to return home and it would have killed him. So people who judge others who get into a position like this just need to walk away without comment.

Thank you for helping this family!🙏 Are you sure you got rid of the bed bugs completely? If you're not sure, or know you didn't get rid of them all get a big container of durable trash bags, and cut them to fit around matresses, and any furniture that's infested. Hold them together with duck tape. Keep these bags on for st least 2 years. It's not fashionable, but it will trap whatever is in there from getting out and getting to others. Also, if there are any outside of those pieces, they can't crawl up plastic. You can lay a thick blanket or comforter over the furniture so you don't have to lay directly on plastic. Just make sure you don't let the blanket hang from your furniture onto the floor and you're good. If an accident happens and bedbugs get on the blanket, just put it in the dryer on high heat for at least 30 minutes and then they will be pushing up posies. You can wash and dry again how you like after if wanted. If you want to get a big bag of "Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth, " or "Food Grade DE," you can sprinkle a little around all the corners of the house and that will kill most things, including bedbugs and fleas ect if they make contact with it. Bedbugs that make contact with it die within 24 to 48 hours after touching it. I am sorry for the long rant, but bed bugs are spreading and becoming a huge problem worldwide because people don't have the knowledge or money to fight this problem. And then the problem spreads to others. I hope this information helps someone, God bless this young lady on this channel, and God bless you all. 🙏

you’re so kind to give advice! i think she mentioned in another video that she payed for professional exterminators for the family.😊
@HoneyBunny.
11 ай бұрын
@nicolesymonds2349 If you throw it out, you STILL want to completely wrap it up in trash bags sealed completely shut with duck tape. Those bugs will leave the mattress and just find their way into your home again, or a neighbors! 🙏 Doing this will help people save up for another mattress in the meantime, or at least make the infested mattress safe to use. You can deep clean the mattress after 2 years are up if you have eliminated the infestation. Unfortunately, exterminators are very expensive for bed bugs. Not everyone can afford to buy another matress, or pay for an exterminator. This info is for those people, or those who don't want to pay for an exterminator. If you live in an apartment that is completely infested with a landlord who isn't solving the problem, it would be best to keep furniture completely sealed in trash bags until you are able to move to a new place. Whether it is still infested or not, because if in an apartment, it is much easier for the bedbugs to get into your home, making you have to do this process all over again. Take the bags off the furniture if they are no longer infested in the uhaul upon bringing it into the new apartment, and throw the trash bags into another trash bag immediately. I would put it in a plastic shopping bag and tie it up tight immediately and set into a larger trash bag for all the other sealed up furniture.
@HoneyBunny.

Its a long story. Too long. But let's just say, someone once kept a couple cats in one room of my house, and when they left, the room sat empty for awhile, and since they had taken all their stuff and emptied the room, we didn't even use or go into that room for a bit. The room actually looked clean, but when I did go into the room to redo and use the room, I found fleas everywhere. I mean, they were everywhere. You couldn't even walk around without getting fleas on you! I was furious, and furiously cleaning. First I used a couple flea foggers in the room and though it got many of them, it certainly didn't kill all. We ripped the flooring out. I sprayed flea spray on all baseboards and all that, and even tried a couple different kinds. Still could see fleas. I got pissed one day and went into my laundry room, grabbed the bottle of bleach, grabbed a mask, opened the windows and started spraying that room with full strength bleach. Afterwards, no fleas. Finally. Though we did get the house, the rest of it, sprayed as well. I havent seen fleas ever again in here, lol. It took replacing flooring in that room and leaving windows open to air out for awhile, but those suckers were gone, lol. Awful experience, so I cannot imagine bed bugs.

I’m pretty sure I got PTSD from having bedbugs for a year. It was so traumatizing. Luckily, my landlord at the time covered the cost to have it taken care of, because he knows our financial situation, and we always made sure our rent was paid. We were able to pay him back. But now, whenever I’m in bed, and I feel a hair touch my arm, I panic thinking it’s a bedbug. Those things are horrible. I don’t wish them upon anyone. The psychological torture alone is horrible. Bedbugs don’t discriminate. They don’t care whether you’re a neat freak or a hoarder. They just want you for your blood. I hope this man can at least sleep in peace now.

I think I have PTSD too from it and we only found 8! But had to treat everything as an infestation. Got the bed bug mattress covers. Got DE. Spray. Put everything into large Costco containers. Vacuumed constantly. Have not REALLY seen one in 20 months but in my mind constantly. A black speck can make me cringe. I feel them crawling on me when not really there. Was just horrible. My sister was dying and all I could talk about was bed bugs.

Wow you had to pay your landlord back? Not sure where you’re from, but here in nyc the landlord is required to cover all pest control issues and basically all maintenance issues. They own the property. And if they don’t, they can be reported to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development. I would be livid if my building expected me to pay for the maintenance of their property.

So impressed and glad you and your team stepped up to help this man and his family out. So important to have a clean and safe environment, sadly as we age we often don’t “see” the dirt or worse and mental health in the elderly is always a concern because even if they aren’t “clinically depressed” or other mental health diagnosis many elderly just have a hard time getting through the day let alone planning for cleaning and executing it. So, all that to say thank you for the service you provide whether paid or volunteered I so appreciate the work you do to bring peace of mind to the client and their family. Great video, great ethics, thank you again!

The difference it makes to just hear someone acknowledge that it's okay to not be okay... Im sure it makes a lot of difference in so many peoples lives. I wallowed in depression for a bit and my home got out of control and having friends support me and tell me that it was okay for me to not be okay; that it didn't make me lesser for not having a handle on things... really made a difference. It gave me the space and clarity to discover real actionable steps I could take to get out of and learn to handle my depression. These videos remind me of that.
