I am in tears, I was but a babe in this cauldron of politics and expediency, a babe in Bareilly with a serving colonel father and mother hosting the commander in chief...and then the sheer appalling horror of what unfolded, which was told to me when I grew older. Beautiful India scarred by horrible politicians intent on preserving their own positions in a country far far away. Beloved Bharat, Land of my birth. Jai Hind.

Hi Ma'am, touched by the short film, but equally by your comment! Would love the opportunity to reminisce with you about your time in India. Of whatever you remember, and what you heard from those around you. I am fascinated by that part of our history, and would someday love to write about it too. Do you think you could spare some time for this? Regards.

Appreciate your frankness & the pain you and we indians have /now undergoing by Idiotic Politicians then . Could you recollect or find who appointed the 2 Hindu & 2 Muslim persons to sit with Mr. Radcliffe & who authorised them? Why did MKG kept his mouth shut not stopping Radcliffe for doing things in a hurry? What role did Nehru Played because of whom both India & Pakistan are shambles today everyday we indians loosing forces, people from radicalised Pakistan now.

I came to know of this movie while reading up on the Radcliffe line. Although it is history to me, my parents and grandparents have lived through this age. This movie is an excellent depiction of the anguish suffered by both the countries and also that of the man who has been vilified for his act. In this digital age , it is an apt short film to convey to the younger generation the history that should never be forgotten !

The partition was senseless and created untold miseries .Why this senseless decision!!!!! Just to satisfy the political ambitions of people. Muslums and Hindus lived in harmony.Infact the people who helped them escape were all Muslims!! It is these politicians who created this mess. Very very tragic.

Weakness at the crucial "Moments of Strength" - say, during international negotiations (ostensibly to prevent bloodshed and violence) - only brings a out a much more bloody, violent and painful aftermath. Those who are to be kicked out, have to be KICKED OUT : not carried out in pomp, grandeur and style on one's own head(s) while being made to sleep most comfortably on properly - fitted - out, four - poster, kingsize beds, with other liveried attendants fanning "their Royal Highnesses"! Sheep and cattle cannot do what lions can, when it is the time for the latter to take action! 😔😔😔

It's a good movie - the facts are well-established but people see them better in a movie. The real problem is that the Brits pushed the date of Independence up from June 1948 to August 1947. The agreements related to Independence and the creation of Pakistan were reached only on June 2, 1947. There was simply no time to prepare anything. Independence itself did not need preparation as Nehru had already been de facto Prime Minister since September 1946. The partition of Bengal also did not need much preparation - it fell along natural lines, and there was not much problem later on. In fact, Hindus stayed on in E. Pak until quite late. However, there was a need to prepare in Punjab, Delhi, UP, etc. It was complete chaos. Some people thought that Partition will not be permanent - because it seemed so crazy. And they did not move. But, many officials left, and there were gaping holes in the administration - which led to chaos. Perhaps the Brits should not be asked to repay for British rule over India but they should be declared "Guilty" for complete lack of administration in the Partition of Punjab

Brilliant work though, the showing of Radcliffe in such good light leaves us helpless again in casting a doubt... Wasn't this same Radcliffe man responsible for destruction of the original education system in India much before he drawing his bloody line? And where's the proof of how he felt after doing all this? Was he remorseful? Who has seen it? It wasn't known then, and not today. So, he shall be remembered for a Bloody line forever!!

What a wonderful, brilliant film. Superb! The poem itself is a matter of fact account of what happened and yet moving. “…a bout of dysentery kept him constantly on the trot” is particularly funny as it seems Radcliffe drew the line in between his toilet breaks. But this is unfair as he was given an impossible task that would have defeated even mightier than poor old Cyril. I have my own views of the partition, but so as not to detract from the brilliance of Ram Madhvani’s work, I will keep them to myself. Well done, sir!

We were in Belfast and got talking with a local. He had an interesting perspective on the British. They divided countries and left them in political shambles, shamelessly. Look at Ireland, Germany, India. Also, I found this movie more like to exonerate Gandhi and Radcliffe. Radcliffe I don't care about. But, Gandhi was totally responsible for the division....because of his favouritism of Nehru.

Well made. Jinnah made the partition inevitable. It became a necessity. It was good for India. Muslims cannot coexist with other religions. We cannot blame Radcliffe. The inordinate hurry and the early date for independence, brought the mass exoduses and killings. The exoduses could have been better prepared and monitored. Nehru should have foreseen the coming carnages due to hurried and non-planned Independence.Radcliffe did his job. We should blame Mountbatten too who was in a hurry to scoot back to England.

Radcliff says , imagine a line down the middle of this house with you on that side and me on this side. Then Mrs Radclif says , then I should come to where you are. What is the significance of Mrs Radcliff's statement? People should move and be with their own kind? That is what they did and that movement caused all the violence. Or the two groups should come back together now and live as they did before? Either solution will be the correct one. Staying apart but staying peacefully and harmoniously is best. But is it pissible with all the skirmishes between two countries still going . Stop the blame game and work out an amicable solution. Throw ego to the winds, accept every religion as one's own right, live and let live , share and share alike, love each other, respect one another and let peace and goodwill rule us all.
