Nashville. Music city. The place to be for country music, mountain music, bluegrass, and plenty of pop and rock and even hip-hop performers as well. I was very fortunate to be the co-director cinematographer on the documentary feature, The Nashville Sound back in 1969. And it was the 45th anniversary celebration at The Grand Ole Opry. So many stars were there-Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner, Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Charlie Pride etc. and I got to be the cameraman on the stage. The Herbie Howell story touched me then as it touches me now. A beautiful person he was. I hoped he had what Nashville was looking for but sadly, he did not.
