$2600, well it should be your last slider because it crushes the bank. The DYI crowd is looking for a $260 slider, not a real-world slider. You make money off of YT to run your channel. Everyone else can't even make a $5000 feature. And that's my main question to all the reviewer channels: if you have spend so so so much money on your gear, how come you guys can't make a feature film? Not one, not one of these channels and hosts has ever made a feature film. Shorts don't count in the filmbiz. Features do. Better to spend the money on a script and shoot a $5000 feature film, instead half of it on a slider.

Maybe we should spend more time perfecting our technique so we don't need to pay $2600 for a... slider to do b-roll?!?!? C'mon, man. I used to like your channel, but honestly sometimes looks like you're just pushing gear to us. And gear that, honestly, 99% of your audience don't need.
@AyechinoProd

Technique is one thing and convenience is another, which is exactly what this product brings. Sure he could manually do handheld cinematic b shoots all the time but that's a time consumer plus with naturally human error, he may have to take multi attempts the get the best shot. Or he could save the burden and make the investment into this slider and get the shots he wants quicker, smoother, and have time to work/allocate to other things. You'd be surprised how many Hollywood set has even more expensive equipment to get things done but will you tell them to "perfect their technique". Plus you don't know his audience, product videography is a huge market and a lot of creatives are getting into it, so something like this is an amazing investment.

@@AyechinoProd I wouldn't be surprisr about Hollywood sets cuz, well, they have hundreds of millions of dollars and dozens of people in every movie. What bugs me is this youtube trend to push expensive products to people that, no, are not remotely necessary. Especially for a $2600 product. That's the best way for the youtubers to make money since the new algorithim got implemented, but still a very ethically questionable practice. 99% of videomaker youtubers now say "you need this" "you need that" and is all about the gear now.

I'm also wondering why you didn't mention Edelkrone. I was an early adopter with their motion control system and they constantly supported their system through firmware updates and app development. They even upgraded the head and slider modules for me at zero cost a year after I purchased. Their V2 modules are far better. I'm not shilling for them, but I'm just wondering why you chose to go with a crowd funded upstart rather than the company that has been established for years in the affordable motion control systems. This Rhino appears to have some interesting features not found on Edelkrone, like the joysticks on the unit and the screen to let you know what's happening. The face recognition just seems like a gimmick. But the Edelkrone works wirelessly with its components. So no ethernet cables getting in the way. Plus, it folds flat to put in a bag, although the Rhino seems pretty compact itself. And even though you say that the battery lasts "forever", I like the Edelkrone solution better since it can accept LP-E6 battery plates or Sony F-type plates, or AC in. At least the Rhino system offers a high torque slider motor option for incline shots. Edelkrone offers no such option. Their motors are not recommended for more than a few degrees incline because of how you can just push it to where you want to make target keys. Sorry for hijacking your video comments, but people wanted to know differences between the two systems.

I think Edelkrone has the lead when you talk Ecosystem. You can do a whole lot with the parts. Rhino is more specialized. Yes you. An use a DSLR, but this system can handle a Red no problem. The direct control with the joysticks can replace a fluid head for some use cases plus give you the ability for repeat ability. My question is can it record a movement and then replay it exactly. Not create a movement with way points and then replay that, but record a clip of a manual operation then replay that exactly? Personally, I think the Arc system can support many more use cases. Just the automatic ease in and out is fantastic for a new camera operator who doesn't have a lot of experience with a fluid head. You can do all the manual movements that you can't do with any other system plus all of the automated.
@gabenoll
4 жыл бұрын
Having used both Edelkrone and Rhino's motion control systems, they are quite different. Definitely not comparing apples to apples. Edelkrone is quality, has a great ecosystem, and their slider and motion control system are proven. However, it cannot support much weight at all, especially when considering bigger slider moves that shift almost all of the weight to the end of the unit. Not a flaw in the unit, just an issue if wanting to accomplish those spoecific moves. Also, Rhino is a rather respected manufacturer for a while now as well, and put a lot of R&D into this product.
@edrugmanmusic
4 жыл бұрын
I’m curious as to how repeatable the moves are on the Rhino. The Edelkrone seems to mention repeatable motion control for compositing on their site... the rhino doesn’t really make much mention of this... has anyone tried to composite shots using the rhino or have any experience of how close they compare in this respect? The weight handling and speed options appeal to me for the rhino, the restriction of only 2 key frames in the app is a worry to me. The Edelkrone I like the smaller form slider but worry about any angling that it might not cope with as well as the sheer weight of the system (sleek it is not)....
@goodeggproductions
4 жыл бұрын
@@edrugmanmusic I'll tell you this much. You better have a REALLY good tripod for the Edelkrone system. I have a beefy Manfrotto with a 75mm bowl and I need the strength of King Kong to wrench it down so it won't shift toward the extremes of the travel of the slider. And that was only using a GH5 and a monitor on the head module. It's a heavy system. But with that weight comes some stability.

This is a no-brainer. The design is terrible... It has parallax (the unwanted kind) in the pan (if you don't get some sort of adapter and definitely in the tilt axis which cannot be solved. The hole point of dragging around a system like this is that it should be perfect and since it is so expensive they should have thought about stuff like that. Edelkrone, shark slider s2 and syrp Genie mini with L bracket are the only systems which handle this. But syrp has garbage software since the Australians are a non-caring bunch of drunks. Unless you’re a pro, you’re not buying as a consumer when you can buy an entire computer or drone for that price. These companies need to take their pricing seriously. This is an accessory, no one is paying same price as their camera body, for a damn accessory that’s used on niche shots. Even if they took $2,000 off and sold it for $600, I would be jumping at it. You can’t tell me that thing cost more than $150 to make. I’m not paying for R&D. They would rather sell 500 of these to Pros instead of selling 5,000 of these at consumer prices.

Also add another ~$300+ for a used iPhone since Android users can't use it. Why ostracize almost half of all users?

Same here. Besides Peter Lindgren every influencer states: "Attach your phone and the magic happens" With the majority of phones nothing will happen. I'm no filmmaker at all, but a gear guy and would love to buy the arc2, but for us normal people this System is more or less useless without Android or Windows Support.

I Think the "iFootage Shark Nano Slider" .. that's coming out is a better buy. $500, More Portable and Has the same features

It does not have the same features. Not even close. This has full pan and tilt as well as full 360 movement if you need it. Dont get me wrong. This is definitely priced for woeking professionals but you can charge whatever you want when you create a unique system. It's only a matter of time before even cheaper options become available.

For e it will be either: Arc 2 or Black Forest Motion bundles (they seem more reliable and very well built)

I've been saying gimbal manufacturers should make such a thing for ages. I'm glad someone is finally doing it. Edit: Nevermind, seems like vaporware, it was supposed to be released 9 months ago.

I've been waiting for Moza Air X sooooo long. I doubt it will ever be finished. Besides I read many disappointed comments on moza facebook group (not filtered by moza). So I guess this is not a real option
