Thats a 720, probably a 1980 model year. Most markets (such as the USA) had rectangular headlights but the early 1979-1981 fleetline models had 4 round headlights. It's definitely a pre-1982 as it still has the L20b vs the Z20/22/24 that later models had.

Nope, its a 1970 521 Datsun pickup, look at the grill, it has horizontal slats, unlike the 1975 one that has vertical. The 1975 one has rounded taper from the the hood to the very front while the 1970 one is like this one with a sharper squarer edge.

@@static_Tricolor_camry my aunt 09 honda accord has almost 200,000 miles on it n it still runs fine! literally everything still works except the tpms idiot light! n she got it in 2019 with 160k ish miles on it and i 5 years put like 40k miles on it.. heck its even shrugged off a couple accidents that the only damage done was some scratches! n one of those was a hit n run! and it still has all of the original windows including the windshield which has a couple little chips which my aunt aint fixing unless it cracks! and yes its an automatic!

You’re the lucky one. my buddy works at the dealership in the service department. they have a pile of transmission cores from brand new Nissans. When I say pile I mean over 100 units on pallets and that’s one month.

Those old datsun-Nissan engines are also used in old forklifts, and they also make many running hours without mayor issues. Have a client with 51.000hours on the clock, where other brands are fully worn out at 15.000-25.000 hours.

I've read that is just needs the dust/sand to keep the engine running, has something to do with the piston rings.. Can't imagine it, but there must be a reason..

Sand or any other small particles will cause damage as they restrict the oil distribution and will possibly clog up the oil pick-up. oil passages are very very thin, i just can't believe it would last very long. I think the airfilter was taken off shortly before the video.

The always poorly weighted but indestructible 720. I love these Pick-Ups. My dad had one for a little over 5 years, made in Mexico in 1993. He bought it with 1,367 miles and sold it with a little over 503,310 miles. I only did oil changes, a clutch change and brake repairs.

They are true veterans of the road! If a catastrophic apocalyptic situation (nuclear, EMP.) occurs on some continent, cars from the 2000s and later will soon stop, and cars from the 1980s and 1990s will survive longer, but they are not perfect either. In the long run, only these old vehicles will survive to transport cargo to various places. Survivalists need to keep these cars in their garage just in case. 👍

It's surprising what a difference climate and roads make. In Russia, a car with 1m km mileage would be considered killed while having only some problems with interior and probably a new engine/gearbox, but it's still pretty much a car. In Africa the same exact usage lengh results in the car looking as if it was running non-stop for the last 40 years

The odometer would turn over at 1 million, hes probably reading thr tenths digit as KMs 😂 So while it undoubtedly has turned over. The odometer is displaying 370,000 kms NOT millions. Also this is ar LEAST a 1980 MY because before that Nissan vehicles had 5-digit odometers. Basically theres no way to tell how many kms are on it, but seeing how long Datsuns lasted here in the USA; Murilee Martin did a photo essay of a 1980 210 (b310 chassis) that had 370,000 MILES (600k kms) on it. Beibg it looked showroom fresh compared to this pickup, it wouldn't surprise me if it has many millions of kilometers on it.

My dad said he had one of these back in the day before I was born, Datsun 620 if I'm correct. Good little trucks, although here in the snowier parts of the United States where we live, it didn't last long after the salt was poured on the roads. Other than that, good little truck. I have a couple hot wheels ones too

That looks like an older Toyota probably 1980 or older based on the bed rails.. The odometers rolled over so many times that it’s hard to prove how many miles are really on it but either way it’s pretty impressive. I wonder if that’s the 22r motor found in most of those old pick ups.

You *can't* help but take it easy on this truck. It makes very little power. No electronics beside the ignition, and sports a tried and true carburetor. This thing has a look that only hard work can achieve. I love this truck, and its far from done.

The problem when using very old vehicle is the safety reliability and comfort is low, not to mention when the parts can have higher tendency to suddenly stop working while driving which can be dangerous due to fatigue or worn out parts that was not changed.

I learned how to drive stick shift on a truck like this one as a teenager in the mid 80's, it was fairly new at the time. Absolutely loved it!! Very high quality, it lasted several hundred thousand miles as a not very well taken care of work truck.
