I am excited to announce that Dozen Duzit and Scale Wings have partnered to sell, market, and promote the SW-51 Carbon Mustang to the United States. Be sure sure to stop by our booth at the Reno Air Races Sep 15-18 to say 👋 to me and get an up close look at the details of the SW-51 Carbon Mustang!

Drinking game. Take a swing every time he says “ stronger than the original” as well as “ made of carbon fiber”

This plane is very high on my list of affordable dream planes. Can't wait to see more content

The quick build kit costs $250k, without engine and avionics. Complete, ready to fly planes cost half a million. Still think it's "affordable?" And yes, I'm aware that genuine P-51 Mustangs costs several million...

@@johnsizemore7579 exactly, the only "affordable" p51 i know of is the titan at like 90k before engine/electronics

The belly scoop on the original did cool the oil cooler, but it also had the radiator in there for engine cooling. The design of it actually allowed the expanding warm air to provide some thrust!

Was about to add that too. Only Rear engine WW2 fighter plane the US built was the P39, p400 and P63 models

Decorative rivets on a composite plane? Holy parasitic drag Batman!
@DozenDuzit
2 жыл бұрын
There is certainly a parasitic drag effect from the fake rivets. But they are all flat smooth rivets and don’t really make a huge difference in drag. Maybe without them you’d pick up 2-3 knots. Nothing crazy.

It is a brilliant design, with massive potential....but....the price for me at least is NOT affordable... Great airplane though.

Prop looks under scale - bummer

Who cares when it’s spinning. Besides it has to be that size for prop flange strength.

70% airframe, 7% power. What's the point?

I have an 1,100HP LS looking for a home. If this can take even de-rated power I am very interested.

Wow, what an airplane. Love the detail they put in. They plan on making a Corsair?

I mean.... Why make fake rivets? Would much rather not have the fake rivets and have the plane cost less.
@DozenDuzit

Since the molds are already made, it doesn’t add any extra cost per airplane. They sent hand set into every aircraft, just the original molds.

Authenticity. Without the simulated rivets and screws, it'd look much less like the real thing. Of course, one would only see those details on the ground, not in flight.

Love the SW-51 MUSTANG! I hate the $300,000.00 price tag. Only rich people can fly those.

For a brand new plane as bad*ss as this one, it's not a bad price tag. Many STOLs or even 5-8 year old Cessnas cost that much

I'm old school, but I'm open to new ideas. I was wondering, this carbon fiber, how does it handle UV sunlight? What is the " life" of this structure? Fifty years on, will this a/c still be functional like an aluminum one?

The attention to detail with mock riveting, etc is cool....but I'd rather skip all that and optimize performance instead, make it sleek and seamless

My opinion l really don’t like this aircraft you don’t make a warbirds or a copy cat with all the new technology we have today. It a disgrace to all the veterans who few the P51 and fight & die for are freedom we have today . I bet he doesn’t know much about the history of the P51 .
