Would enjoy video on how to chip from thick, fluffy rough around green. So many times the ball just flops 3 feet; so frustrating.

Love your videos!! I have 2 situations that would love to know how to hit better. First is when the ground is moist, where if you brush the ground you actually take a little divot, it’s that soft. Second when the ground is patchy where the Bermuda is starting to green up and the rye is starting to go away.

I'd agree with the title of the video. I've struggled with chipping for a while and had reverted to back of the stance and shaft lean which did work but nowhere near as consistently as this technique. Just practiced about 50 balls in the garden after watching and this is spot. Can't wait to take it to the course. Cheers gents.

I have found all of these tips to work very well generally, although, 1) there are times when you might want to back the ball up, and 2) I would just add that, at least for me, opening my stance a smidge, like 5 to 10 degrees helps with alignment a lot.

Great video guys.I am currently trying to cure myself of the dreaded yips.Realise now that they started because my technique and set up was wrong.Shaft lean and shoulder tilt which i got away with for years. However as i aged i started to chunk and thin.I have rectified the set up, square shoulders very little if any shaft lean .Problem still existed because having zero confidence and nerves i would still stab at the ball.Cure for me was simple.I pinched a tip from one of your other videos about pitching with eyes closed when playing the shot.Everything fell into place, shoulders and hips rotated naturally not worrying if caught a little fat as bounce would rescue me. I simply focused on nice tempo and wow .Can't thank you guys enough.Mike Scotland.

This lesson is so important, I hope everyone is taking notes. I watched an older video from Andy & Piers that has similar elements and it made a HUGE difference in my chipping game. My confidence level in chipping is much much higher because of this tutorial. Thanks, @Andy & @Piers! We love you guys! :-)

Thanks Andy and Piers for such a great video on an important part of the game. I'm always practising my chipping and have gone from a digger to a brusher! It also helps us amateurs save some shots around the green. Keep up the great content guys!

Practiced this yesterday with a hundred or more strikes. It worked great even on almost bare turf. I had a number of balls ride up the club face and land well short. Maybe that was a lack of turning but it didn’t feel that way. Would be interested to know what caused those.

Piers/Andy, sounds like a great lesson will definitely be giving some of them a try. What do you say about stance? I noticed you had feet fairly close together but in-line. I usually play my chip shots around the green with my feet almost together but my leading foot slightly behind (open stance) to allow more rotation around the body in the follow through. What love to hear your thoughts 👌

Thanks for the video. I recently started doing what Andy is doing with the chipping but the feeling for me is my front hand feels like it's turning down on the backswing and my club comes slightly inside. I'm much more consistent this way.

On full swings I tend to take the club back a little outside the hands, turn back and flatten it on the downswing. On chipping I was told to bring it a little more inside. Totally changed my chipping. It's never been terrible but it's an absolute weapon now.

Good video! While our fairways are in very good shape, we sometimes get a lot of rain, leaving thick rough, sometimes high enough where you can't see the ball until you are nearly on top of it. What chipping technique is best for very thick, sometimes tall rough? Our greens measure 12 to 13 speed, according to the greens-keeper.

This is where you need steepness. Totally different in the rough. We actually have a Coaching Plan called "Complete Chipping" in our app. We cover pretty much everything you need around the green.

Hi Roy. A little shaft lean is fine. If you do what you do then it is just important that you still feel a brush and don't try and force things down if that makes sense?

Thx. What degree wedge were you using in this example? Many instruction videos suggest less loft close to the green. I personally use a 54 degree wedge. Sometimes I do lean the club forward if it’s close enough to the pin. I find I can control the direction a little better on these.

@@meandmygolf. I appreciate your point of view which, to be fair, is a fettered one. Fortunately such clothing will be banned from most golf clubs as it will be deemed as a football shirt and therefore not acceptable. I also appreciate people have different views on this matter. Anyway, the content is great that the main thing! 👍

I like the technique, but just wondering how you would play different types of shots this way e.g. bump and run? When I’ve used this technique the ball often pops up into the air and lands softly, but this isn’t always the right shot to play. Would you just recommend using a different club to pay different shots, or are there ways to play different shots with the same club?

Great video, when your that close to the green, would you use a bump and run with 7/8 iron? I can never decide, is there a rule of thumb for this?
@meandmygolf.
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ad. That is possible but I prefer to use one chipping club mainly. This way you really tune in to the club and how it performs. My 52 still plays a bump and run.

My problem is that I’m doing pretty much what you’re saying. Practice swings are perfect. Then I try to step up to the ball and just do what I did on my practice. I guess the best way to put it is it I don’t follow through. For my attack angle gets too steep and I duff it. It’s a lack of confidence. I’m having trouble with my irons too. I took a break from playing golf a couple of years ago and I just can’t get it back. I have no confidence whatsoever. I shot a 37 on the first nine holes the other day and then shot a 50. I just lose it and things go from bad to worse.

How to stop the ball running up the face on longer wedge shots. Having issues getting full distance out of my wedges because it keeps shooting up into the air and losing distance
@MPerski
2 жыл бұрын
You asked for questions ☝🏻 Well, most people I play with SWING TOO HARD (including me) 🙄 In an effort to get maximum distance, most people swing way too fast and try to HIT the ball hard, resulting in finishing out-of-balance, off-center hits, open clubface, etc etc How do we find the correct tempo to swing effortlessly, as it appears good players do on TV? 🤷🏼♂️

The 3 Biggest Mistakes I see: 1) Chipping with too much loft - give a 52 a try, 2) Stance not narrow enough, 3) Ball back with shut face instead of forward with very slightly open face

That's all well and good when you have a perfect lie like that... 99% of the areas around the greens I play are full of tufts and bald spots... Good luck trying a shot like this when your ball lands on a patch of mud with a big tuft of grass directly behind it! Most amateurs golfers will be playing on courses like this rather than the perfectly manicured courses you show...
