for the doll stand - it should go around her waist, you'll have to extend the metal part of the stand out somewhat for it to sit right though

At first I thought that the price was crazy for a doll- but then I realised it's not a doll, it's a piece of art. And while the price seems high, as it can only really be sold from artist to consumer once, they need to charge enough to cover their costs as well as the time they spent making it, enough to make a living wage, which accounts for the high price. And while I favour cheap mass produced art (like movie posters!) I'd definitely consider buying art I like to support artists trying to make a living if I had the money and a big enough home to decorate :) Fantastic review as always

I own 4 Pullip dolls, that were all given to me as gifts from very special people. My favorite is one called Prunella. She's GORGEOUS. about the stand... I'd never put it on her neck, as it could scratch her head and makes it super unstable. The right way to use it is on her waist- the metal clip thing comes off, so you gently put it around her waist, under her clothes if you want to hide it, and then you put the metal thingy back to the plastic stand. Also, I think you missed something about her eyes- she can blink and stay with her lids closed! Just press the plastic buttons. That's what they meant by locking the eyes in place. They actually meant the eyelids. They're sometimes beautifully painted.

In answer to the question at 18:18, Pullip dolls sometimes sell for discount prices. Though it's now back to being pricey, I got the Peter Pan Pullip off Amazon at steep discount a little over a year ago. A while back, people used to get them at discount from Tuesday Morning. Wow!! That's awesome you were sent such a high-class doll! I've always liked looking at BJDs, but I know I'll never get one because of just how expensive the ones I want are xD. Something I know about doll clothing like this is sometimes the black dye can bleed onto the body, which isn't really a problem if you plan on keeping that doll in the same outfit, but I have some cu-poches (another japanese doll line with fabric clothing) where the bodies of a couple of them were totally wrecked by black fabric. I'm not sure if that's the case with Pullip clothing as well, but I've seen some people warn about it in the BJD community. Just something to keep in mind if you're looking into dolls like this!

I have one pullip and two taeyangs that I got for around £100 for all three due to some yellowing especially on the pullip, so I've since customized her using tips from poppen atelier doll art studio! And had to make some tiny panties as she has a type 2 body which means the soft torso plastic melts/corrodes the waist band line so I had to file away where her fishnets had literally melted onto her body, and get rid of the yellow and blush her body back to life. You can take the metal part of the stand out (at least with the version I have, but it is from a few years back). I usually do that, fit it around the waist and then put it back inside the plastic tube (?). It's supposed to fit around the waist and you can adjust the height to fit the doll. I wouldn't reccomend using the stand on her neck, as it will not be stable and she might fall over her face. You could hide the waisband under the ouftif, but it also depends on the type of clothing the doll is wearing. Oh, and about the discounted price: I just saw one selling for 80 bucks (the reasoning was a dent in the box, but the doll is brand new). It was from a old collection (Rozen Maiden Souseiseki, for those who know about it), tho, so I'm not sure if she would go for a higher price anyway. One thing I have noticed is that the pricing of the dolls haven't gone up that much. The ones I bought 8 years ago where around the same price as the ones I'm seeing for sale today. I'm glad to see that the quality haven't gone down with time. Although the bodies don't seem to have improved much, it still looks kinda flimsy. Back in the day, many collectors would mod the dolls and replace the body, wich had a higher range of posing and bodytype options to choose from.

Pullip/Dal/Byul doll prices all come down to timing. I've gotten them for $60-$70. There are those that never drop below $150, but if you're looking to buy one just to have a Pullip doll in your collection, I highly advise having some restraint and shopping around. I tend to prefer Dal because she tends to be the midpoint in prices and variety, but the majority of the fandom based dolls are Pullip (I'm looking at you, Sailor Moon).

I owned porcelain dolls before and had a stand similar to that. It goes around the waist and acts like a hook or claw to hold grip. The stand should be adjustable if you pull it upward but I don't know since it seems like a plastic stand rather than a metal or wooden one. Usually if your posing the doll you can tuck the stand in her clothes or hide it with her hands and heavy clothing. It's not noticable though if you prefer to not mess around with the clothing.

@@NexJen Yeah, you can actually see them in costuming from America's revolutionary war era. Such as Hamilton the musical. I had to make my own for my Eliza costume, lol.

The bodies are pretty fragile, a lot of collectors online seem to switch the bodies for Obitsu bodies which are more durable and more poseable.

You can get them used (usually nude) on eBay and customize them (wigs, eyes, clothes, face.) The least expensive I've seen recently was $50 with free shipping. You are correct that the body gets loose over time. This is partially due to the disproportionate head. Some people change their bodies. I did a lot of research before I bought my first one (2005.)

I have a couple that I got from a site called PullipStyle.com, they were some what cheap because they were on sale, I have one pullip, one of the males, and pullip’s younger brother, the site is pretty decent even got a make your kit that I’m slowly getting all the stuff for just need a few more things then I can design my own taeyang I think that’s what the guy is called. Glad Jen got one because I don’t see many toy reviewers review them well the ones I follow any way. Just remembered the eye mechanism freaks my dad out , he doesn’t like that the eyes can go back and forth.

Happy Friday! The doll is beautiful. I remember having a doll like that but way fancier when I was a child. It just sat on my dresser and I was not allowed to play with it. LOL

It's been a long time but to answer the question at the end of the video: I have never paid over $120 for one of these and I have 20! I got most of mine for $40-$50 each from Tuesday Morning in America! They show up sometimes but you have to be EXTREMELY diligent to get one lol. Also pullipstyle is a really nice and cheaper source. You can also get full stock brand new ones for way cheaper from jpgroove.com/ :)

So here's a thing: in Brazil that's the usual price for new dolls, and I'm talking about playline dolls. I remember especially about Monster High Skelita; my dad's friend brought one for me from USA, at the time she payed less then 20 dollars, the dollar price here was 2 reais (BR money) so if u convert, the doll should cost R$40, or at least R$60 because of taxes; alright, the fact is that same doll here costed 200 reais, yeah U didn't read wrong, a doll that originally costed less then twenty dollars costed two hundred reais here in Brazil. Just to have something to compare to, at the time the minimum salary here was 678 REAIS per month or 3,08 per hour. So if u wanted a doll U would probably have to save money the whole year and maybe, even with like 2 or 3 minimum salaries, you would still not be able to have one. Nowadays nothing changed, it's hard to find a doll for less than R$100; that really simple Fashionista Barbies, for example, cost around 100-120 reais; LOL dolls are all over 200. Unfortunately that's the reality here, the toys are not only more expensive but also we have a minor salary, that's a bummer for a toy/doll collector like me, when people come in and see my collection they be like "wow that's a lot" but they forget I've been growing it for over 10 years, and I haven't even got more than 50.

You haven't seen all the eye action yet! Not only can you move the eyes from side to side, each eye has a button with which you can close that eye! She can blink and wink! Think of baby dolls with sleepy eyes that close when you lay them down, only you can operate these eyes individually with the buttons, even while the doll is standing up. Usually the eyelids are coloured as if she is wearing eyeshadow.

I never knew Pullips were that beautiful! Being a low-key BJD fan, I had heard about them, but usually in the same vein as Blythes, which I'm personally not a fan of. 1: The Blythes' heads are too large compared to their body, and 2: The fun doll-blogs I used to follow got the Blythe-bug and the dolls they had initially gotten a following with just vanished, probably re-sold. :( I'm looking forward to seeing what other non-toy items you'll be reviewing in the future! What does Izzy think of the Pullip? Is she jealous? x)

You know what I agree I used to wanna look into the Blythe dolls but they usually look alien like to me. I thought maybe it was just me. Izzy said the doll is very beautiful, the colours are bright and she likes how her hair looks with her clothes. She loves it. 😁

i would really love to own a BJD one day, but sadly I have never got a job where I could afford buying those dolls.
