Thank you for making your videos. I've been watching since you had 1.4k subscribers. You were the first person on the internet to tell me my biggest issue was my unhealthy habits. Since then, I've gone from getting 4 hours of sleep a night to 8. My study time has gone from almost 8 hours a night to just 2. I've been able to fix my real life career and also enjoy gaming. I can't believe I spent 3 entire years half asleep. I started going to the gym, eating 3 meals a day and so much more. There were times I wouldn't eat for 2 entire days because I didn't feel like it or thought I didn't have the time to eat. Sometimes I would sit at my desk the entire night struggling to follow the proofs presented in my lectures. I remember one night spending 10 hours attempting to figure out surface integrals and gave up so I could at least get 2 hours of sleep. The past 6 months have been the most awake and exciting 6 months I have experienced since entering boarding school. You're not just helping people gain ELO in a video game but helping some people improve their life. I hope you continue to make this content because maybe someone else also needs the wakeup message.

At first when I saw the initial video with this drill I didn't understand that eventually when you move on to medium bots you have to move and aim at the same time, but I had to do that in order to be able to hit them on time consistantly and I thought I was doing the drill wrong 😅 but I saw hooj do it in some other video and he was doing the same thing as me (but better obviously) so I was like well it should be fine then :p

To be clear I'm talking about the part where I thought at first that you over flick and then start moving, not the part about aiming with your mouse and not your movement
@FaryhSan
Жыл бұрын
Same with me, but I also find it hard to react to the direction I need to move to in order to overaim. Instead of waiting, I got a bad habit of guessing and have to miss some shots where I underaim. Don't know how to get rid of that, so if some knowers could suggest some drills. Good that Hooj cleared on combining movement with aiming, which I had to do with my 750+ ms reaction time on human benchmark. Maybe it is average, but I find myself short of time in shooting even medium bots
@TheMoonLightNeo

I quite confuse here, why dont we move closer to the target + underflick? Overflick + move far away make we need to flick at longer distance which mean take more time to shot right?@@FaryhSan
@FaryhSan
11 ай бұрын
@@TheMoonLightNeo so it is geometry thing. If you were to underflick and then shoot, to the enemy, you will be moving not fully laterally and they have to adjust not so much. If you overflick and then move, the moment your crosshair arrives at enemy's head, you are moving fully laterally and for them you are at your max speed. This overaim thing is done if enemy catches you off guard, meaning your crosshair is not on them and you have to react (meaning give yourself max time) and if you were to underaim, you would mostly be dead by the time you are ready to shoot. You can draw it in Paint as hooj does to see how your movement on underflick is not perpendicular to the line from enemy to you. I guess hooj explained it that way in one of his streams.
@TheMoonLightNeo
11 ай бұрын
I drew it, but moving on the same side with the enemy is better. Because if the enemy is on your right, and you move left, the angle they need to move their mouse is less because the distance between you and the enemy increases @@FaryhSan If combined with mouse movement, it seems underflick and overflick are the same in term of perpendicular. But for overflick you have to move your mouse at longer distance

Only started the training thing 2 days ago, but already noticed my mouse hand tries to put the cursor on the head. When I over aim it automatically tries to drag it back. I can't stop it (yet, only been 2 days). It must be a really poorly trained instinct from 20 years of playing "not seriously". Actually the "Gargantuan Over Aim" helps. I think my flick is still trying to get close to the head.

I’m not sure if this is just a me problem, but it feels like my character carries momentum for a split second after i release the movement button. This makes it so I have to release the button before my crosshair is on their head, so it stops on their head. Might be an issue with my ping or input delay, or maybe I just have to get used to the distance that the player carries momentum after releasing the button. Any advice would be helpful
@ryanyz10
Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about Valorant specifics but I know in CSGO your character carries a lot of momentum after you let go of the movement keys which is why counterstrafing (tapping the opposite direction key when you want to stop moving) is a thing. I've heard that counterstrafing isn't necessary in Valorant because it shaves off a miniscule amount of time but that could still be why you feel a bit of momentum? Try counterstrafing and see if that helps with the issue, or at least your perception of the issue.

I have no clue how the dummy overaim drill is supposed to translate into the game. I have no time to think about where to overaim to and then where to move to align especially when not on an open area and when not expecting an enemy. It feels impossible and dont know if it is just something that can become habit but I currently doubt it personally. And the impression just gets worse when I just die having no time to react to an enemy which might come down to gamesense. Even tracking the enemy seems easier than consciously not aiming on the enemy first but that seems to be not the point or unwanted according to the video.

This is extremely helpful!!! I have been mostly hardstuck silver (and previously bronze) my entire time playing from day 1, and touched Gold BARELY for 1 game during the end of last act's placement games, when I came back to Valorant, due to getting good teammates for some reason, but now im back at silver 1 for the new episode 9. I now finally understand what the overaim drill is used for in an actual game: to dodge bullets and still land your shots. It is also really good to know about how to actually *apply* angle advantage in games by peaking fast when close to a wall and walk peaking when far, as well as choosing where to peak from so the enemy doesnt get a fair duel. Before now, I never thought about the idea of fighting only fair 50/50 or better duels. I will be sure to try and apply those into my games for improvement!

As a noob myself, I would like to add that you shouldn't just do this expecting to get better. You should rationalize what it's for and try to translate it ingame. It's not about trying to do it and hitting the benchmarks, it's about doing it correctly to gain muscle memory. What I mean is to ask questions. What does this exercise train? It trains your movement + aim with movement + your timing or movement and aim rhythm, which makes you develop the muscle memory to do all those without needing to think. That's why it's so fundamental to do it correctly because if you don't, instead of your muscle memory being of good movement and aim, it will be about shitty movement and aim. You'll be worse at the start until your body gets used to it, it doesn't matter if training makes you an iron 1, as long as you're training correctly, you'll eventually cruise to higher ranks because valorant rank rewards great performances with appropriate rank gain, meaning only your skill level matters if you're good enough.
