If you remove the obvious attempts of the actor/director/producer/writer/etc to insert themselves into sexual situations, vanity projects can be quite charming. It's rare that you get a vanity project that chooses not to make the star into Don Juan though. I sometimes wonder if that's the entire point of making a vanity project, to get chicks via the back door...er...bad choice of boards. You know what I mean though.

This is something I don't think I've said about any vanity project but a few acting lessons a half decent script and a competent director and this guy could of been a solid B grade action guy. Look he's very rough and unpolished but he's got the moves and you can see the potential I'm stunned

The framing and choreography of the fight scenes show potential as a director, too. He understands the individual parts of shooting a movie. He even managed to show character in the action. He just doesn't know how to work all the pieces together into a coherent story. As amazing as this is, I can't help thinking what might have been.
@petoperceptum

Yeah, this puts me in mind of the Hong Kong movie scene except he doesn't really have that big community and investment to go somewhere together. Or if they are around today with a platform like KZitem they could have taken off.

10 ай бұрын
@@cbrewitt we dont know how much ended up on the cutting room floor though. While he has directing and fighting down, Im guessing his editing skills were not great, or maybe it was just an oversight. Even so, as far as vanity projects go, he focused on the best parts of this movie, which would be the fighting. He understood those were the main selling points of the movie. And honestly.. thats an underrated skill too. If something is bad and you cant improve on it, highlight the strong parts more to make up for it.
@SpartanArmy117

@@michelvanderlinden8363 Not to mention the guy just straight up understood the style he wanted and he achieved it flawlessly. For amateurs, this is pretty well done, and they obviously wanted to do it well - compare this to Sifu's movies, with has access to plenty of technical expertise but no-one gives a shit, including him.
