@@WizardClipAudio You are correct in that things can be modded to be faster/ect. But i think that laws come into play. These are probably built by a few guys in one of their garages & don't want to be beholden to the same rules that apply to say Harley-Davidson or Honda, ect, ect. I've been in places that if it's over 49CC's OR if it moves faster than 30-MPH they (police) consider it to be "a motorcycle" in the legal sense. With that, i'm pretty sure the maker of these isn't a licensed motorcycle manufacturer but e-bikes AFAIK don't require the same licensing to make/sell. So they make them that slow intentionally to not get sued/fined by the govt.

For those curious of a banger deal in comparison to this ebike, you can get one called the Jupiter Defiant. I’ve been able to go 31 MPH on it, it can fold up super compact (I slid it into the back of my 1999 Honda Accord just fine), it has a horn, disc brakes, a super comfortable seat, it’s about 60-80 pounds, it can travel 25-40 miles on one charge, 4” ultra thick tires, replaceable/removable battery. There are only 3 slight downsides to the bike. 1: it has garbage fenders, so I right without them. but that really isn’t an issue as I only ride on road. 2: There is no suspension of any kind. So if you go off road like advertised on the website, you will definitely feel every bump. But, because of the tires absurd thickness, most rocks, debris, dips, and curbs you can tackle over just fine. 3: There is no cruise control. Sometimes after biking on this for a while, your right hand can start to get tired from clenching onto the constantly retracted throttle. But that’s definitely not a complete turn off from this bike entirely.

yeah.... this all depends on your state. i know for a FACT where i live, if it has a motor. it has to be registered and insured. the given requirements being that if it exceeds a given speed limit.... usually around the ballpark of 25+_30+mph. pedaling or not isn't even a factor. then you have to have lights, head and tail as well as turn indicators even if you're only on a bike path, because some main roads have bike paths but side roads don't. then there is a price point to consider.....$4k for this things?? i know the motor is strong and all, but i could spend way less and make one myself that'd blow this thing's wheels off for less than $1000 dollars..... hell less than $100..... but for 4k, i could build a auto rickshaw that's electric from the ground up that has a sway gyro system for leaning into turns... then i'm covered and protected from the weather and elements, have seating for up to 4 passengers, and WAAAAAYYYYYYY better lighting systems... and if i wanted to save some money, i could spend $60 on a gas scooter engine to put on the thing, vs what ever i'd spend on an electric motor. hell i could spend 4k on an imported tuktuk, or a piaggio ape trike van and still come out better than this thing..... waste of money dude, waste of money

So if you are in a higher gear, like 5th for example, and you need to stop, do you need to downshift to reaccelerate once you start moving again? I find it amusing that this thing had you going faster through residential neighborhoods than cars are usually allowed to drive (around here most residential is marked 25, unmarked 15). I love the styling of this though.

Instead of riding long distances and facing long charging times, Imagine a standardized battery E-Pack, like 6 or 8 stacked "D" cells that are used by all electric bikes and available at E-stations for exchange. E-bikes and E-motorcycles using the same E-Packs! Where an E-bike uses 1 or 2 while an E motorcycle may use 10. These E-Packs drop into housings sized to each vehicle's energy needs. The "Station" has charging facility for 1000 E-Packs that can be installed in any 2 wheeled vehicle in minutes.

Back in August 2019, I converted my two wheeled recumbent, to a front wheel drive E-bike, using a 48 volt, 500 watt Direct Drive, magnetic hub motor. And I have never regretted it. I looked at a mid drive kit, but the problem is they wear out chains and cassette's pretty fast. And as he stated, can break a chain. I think until some one comes up with a much stronger chain and cassette, I will stick with Hub motors. Oh, and if you can get an E-bike up to 28 mph using throttle only, in California, you need a license. Also, where was your Helmet?

Canada, British Columbia that would be illegal because it goes faster than 32KPH ( 19.8 MPH ) if it's faster than 32KPH you have to have a licence, insurance and a helmet. @@black_rabbit7445 Regulations are for retail products. The owner could have easily turned off any limiters for this loaner. A motorcycle or a car. Insurance, registration, inspection, tags, license, gas, maintenance. That's for starters there are situations where an e-bike is good but not for $4,000. They're all over the internet for approximately $1,300 you can get a brand new one 750 Watt hub that will take you to 30 miles an hour all day long and that's good enough. That's what you want to spend on an e-bike not 4000 not 10,000 that defeats the purpose in my opinion so there you have it now decide what you need or want.

£600 bought me a 1976 2 stroke 50cc simson! Double the horsepower and it makes a great noise! Also 3 speed manual gearbox! Now most European countries you can get a 50cc moped licence at 14, in England it’s 16 but some states in the USA I’m pretty sure you don’t need a licence to own a scooter! It would be a cheaper, faster alternative to (let’s be honest an over priced toy for rich people)
