I still remember last year when I was desperate looking for a new laptop replacement for both gaming and video editing and I managed to find the last unit and it was the Strix G17 that you have reviewed, but with 300hz 1080p screen instead. Now it's almost a year since I'm using it and I'm going to say that I really love this laptop, consider that I always on the move and having Strix G17 that can handle my work and play games as well as just get entertain by the RGB lighting.................. it's just a great fun gaming laptop to have.

I bought this but a different version...the g15 same AMD Ryzen 9 5900hx, rtx 3070 8gb, 32gb ram, 300hz fhd ips display, 1tb ssd...this is my third laptop. It is sure an upgrade from my HP with a quad core cpu and capped at 8gb ram...I had for 5 years. I bought it in the end of December...Then Asus released the specs of the 2022 ver. I kind of regretted my purchase but at the time I still didn't get the laptop. I got it in the second week of January and I changed my mind...best purchase ever but it was most expensive purchase yet that I've made 😅!

I've had this laptop for about 7 months and it's great. I was using a microcenter Powerspec unit before this one with an 8th gen i7 and a 1070, which was also great, but was definitely a budget laptop. This one is really in a different league. The screen especially is something worth while. Great colors, bright, super clear. I just wish it had room for a sata drive. 2 m.2's isn't bad by any means, but I would love a sata ssd in it as well.

Definitely looks nice, I really think more laptops should be 1440p. That's a sweet spot for gaming. I also believe computer manufacturers need to start shipping everything with 2.5gb network adapters. We have been on the 1 GB for way too long. Especially since some wireless adapters can perform faster than a 1gb. Asus actually makes some fantastic 2.5 GB network cards that are blazing fast. I have 4 in my systems.

The rtx 3070 is around 80% of its desktop equivalent. The cpu performance is stunning for a mobile part. The screen is gorgeous. I've had an ROG laptop about 6 years ago, it was an ROG G751JY, a 4 core/8 thread beast with a GTX 980M GPU with NO Optimus. That thing was literally as powerful as my desktop back then. It did weight a ton though and it's power brick was the size of a literal brick. Main problem with high-end gaming laptops is their subpar battery life, especially when you put load on them. They are pretty much only good as (much more expensive) desktop replacements. Nowadays, I've switched to ultraportables, like the Surface Pro which I simply connect remotely to my ultra high-end desktop rig when I need more computing (or gaming) power. But considering the current GPU situation, gaming laptops like this ROG might actually provide quite a decent value for the money.

Somewhat like a Nintendo Switch concept. It'd be really nice to be able to stick it in a dock and use it like a desktop and just remove it and bring it with you on the fly. Every laptop user should know this. 1. Just “raise the bottom” let more air into the machine and you will found cpu&gpu each them reduce 10~15°C or in high usage will have more efficacy 2. You shouldn’t be use “laptop cooler” , cuz that effectiveness actually just like you put two bottle caps under laptop to raise it. But the cooler still use your limited power and it will let cpu&gpu become more hungry. There also very many ways let your experience better , like “gamer most of the time should limit cpu’s PL1&PL2 and offset voltage” “discrete graphics card overclock”. Sorry my bad English, hope it's not too hard to read. Just want help you gus. From Taiwan

I got an ASUS Zephyrus G15 last year: The 5900HS and RTX 3080 does about everything I ask of it. A white classy laptop definately takes some extra care but at the time it was the only thing that was available with that kind of power. Only 16GB RAM is enough for now but it can be upgraded. Most important with a laptop is a good quit cooling solution and nice IO. I mostly use my G15 tied to docking station with a big external monitor at home, and take it with me for travel. A 17 inch screen for standolone use is better but I wouldnt spend any more money on a device like that ( like Dell XPS, MacBooks...). This G15 will last me a long time and as its stands now there wont be a gaming laptop with even newer CPU´s and RTX4000 series in the near futuire that is worth upgrading too...
