🔵We've been getting a lot of questions from viewers in the transition zone states such as Missouri, Tennessee, Southern IL, Virginia, North Carolina etc, wondering if perennial ryegrass is a good choice for their lawn and the short answer is no. It will have a hard time surviving the extended hot summers in those states. If you are interested in having a cool season lawn in the transition zone then i recommend looking into either tall fescue or Kentucky bluegrass. Thanks for Watching! Please Like & Subscribe!

There a reason why u wear the same shirt? Asking for a friend
@PrincessCutLawnCare
2 жыл бұрын
haha good question.. couple of reasons: 1. I dove deep into the concept of minimalism after reading steve jobs biography and man has it helped me streamline my day to day life (wearing the same thing every day without concern of choosing what to wear is a major timesaver that helps me focus on more important tasks) 2. Why this specific shirt? Well these psycho bunny shirts are made from 100% pima cotton (if you never had a shirt made of pima cotton it is a total game changer) and they never fade... like ever. They are pricey but 100% worth the money.

I would add this as pertains to Kentucky Bluegrass versus ryegrass- -given enough water and food and decent enough soil with a minimum of some microbes soil activity, Kentucky Bluegrass will self repair itself whereas my experience with rye grass is that it will leave damaged areas of turf bare for weeds to come up: especially Crabgrass followed by Veronica Speedwell and Spurge.

The local feed and seed stores will stock these seeds and adjust mixes for you based on what you need. The. Best. Possible. You can do all sorts of seed mixes or monograss styles for your yard, but if it's not fit to the climate, you will babying your lawn for the rest of your life. #kappa

Lawn is looking good, PGR is great for seeding but I would probably apply it a day or two before seeding since it takes a few days to start suppressing the vertical growth and you want it to sit on the leaf for a day before you mow it short and then seed. So I would think about 2 days before the actual seeding would be best, but glad it worked out. I believe you can also re-apply to new seedlings and it will benefit them as well (you'll need to re-apply to the rest of the lawn anyway to avoid a rebound surge of growth). You'll want to track your GDD.

Another great video George. I have a tall fescue/kbg mix in my lawn that was a full reno in fall 2020. I like the 3 inch mow. I’m thinking about over-seeding with prg next fall.

I didn’t have as much success with KBG so I’m going down with Rye next Spring. I think I’m too late to try it now.

Depending on where you are. It can sprout at very low temps and get established in 3 to 4 weeks. If your typical hard freeze is within 4 weeks then yes maybe too late. But if your 6 weeks away then your golden!

Don't do it! Work on that base. Subscribe to GCI Turf if you haven't already. Please keep up the monostand. So few actually do.

Great video! This is a little off subject but I have spent the last month or two planting rye and fescue due to sun and shade in my yard. Now the squirrels are trying to destroy all my hard work. So many holes that have been dug by them hiding nuts for the winter. Any suggestions on stopping them would be greatly appreciated. I'm in an urban area, so shooting is out.

@@PrincessCutLawnCare Used peatmoss. The ground is fairly soft since we've had some rain so they are taking advantage of easy digging.

Question. I over seeded my lawn this fall with tttf. Would it be OK to throw in some type of rye grass for a darker green turf?

I know it won't like my summers here in 6b. Just curious if it's pointless or not. Or what pros and cons you may know that would help would be much appreciated.

If you give rye grass the right conditions it will germinate in 3 days, My renovation in mid July had its first mow after 8 days.
