Congratulations on the beautiful hammered silver hammered in amazing condition. They don't come out like that very often! It just goes to show that perseverance on a slow and difficult day pays off! I have had the privilege of finding quite a few Roman fibula over the years and quite often they give off a low number and iffy tone. Great video 👍and happy hunting.

Hi Andy, cheers for your comment buddy. Completely agree, easy to get disheartened but as you know, a single hole can turn the day right around! Happy hunting to you too! !:)

Excellent video and a cracking hammered that, mate. Well done! And I agree with you, it really is strange how the good stuff seems to appear when you've just about given up for the day - never say never and all that.

@@TheMidDevonDetectorist thank you so much for the new subscription. It’s been a better first half of a year detecting than I could have ever wished for. Haha the cheesier gold dance the better right? 😉🤣

@CrosbyCollects haha, I totally forgot to do a gold dance, so any is better than none, no matter how suspect the dance! Yeah, you have had some great finds. Good bit of luck and good land really helps. I am hoping to get out a bit more over the coming months, have about 15 permissions I have not even been on 🤣 some permissions I just keep going back to and like yours, they keep providing me with amazing bits 😀

That coin was totally understandably questionably thin! But man what a find! I would love to venture into detecting soon. How did you go about getting your permissions for the fields you're on? I imagine the future about asking farmers / land owners etc and wonder what their general response would be. I'm in the north east of england, and obviously I'd do some research into the history of earlier settlement areas locally, albeit less rich historically than your area, but you literally have a proven roman landmark close by! Has there not been a bombardment of eager detectorists harrassing the land owners for permission for decades before you?? I just think where I am it might not be such a problem for land owners, but for you down south it must be quite tricky. Great video Jake :)

Hello mate, hope you and the missus are well! I am fortunate enough to be a family friend of the farmer for this particular permission. It is really hard to get land to detect on, especially land that hasn't been detected on before. A lot of it is more a case of 'who you know' and getting lucky. I love that you watch the videos but don't detect yourself. Hopefully you'll see what an amazing hobby it is and get out there yourself :D You can hire equipment from clubs that do group digs, may be worth having a look if you're serious mate. Thanks as always for your comment!

I would have been proud of that find. The only thing that I have found is an indian head five cent piece.
