I'm not American (I'm Filipino) yet your video is randomly recommended to me but you are an awesome meteorologist. It would be nice to do similar forecasts here in East and Southeast Asia, especially El Niño and our upcoming rainy/typhoon season, which can be really destructive sometimes. I just had a recent traumatic Cat 5 typhoon Rai experience where I witnessed my house got torn in half. It was in 2021 and in the midst of a La Niña.

Yeah that is a problem in the PH, but I think it's getting a little better. Years ago it seemed like the forecasters on TV didn't pay much attention to the typhoons until about the time, like within a couple days of having to start setting signal levels (a system that doesn't work well for judging the strength of the typhoon and instead only focuses on how it affects shipping or boat traffic in the different parts of the PH). But last time I was there they seemed to be talking about typhoons sooner and gave more detail about them. The PH should have an agency JUST for dealing with national weather that also deals with data collection for typhoons so they can make better predictions, talk about typhoons the same way most the world does and also follow these storms as soon as they know it could possibly come into the PH. It's also getting bad there because the last time I was there it rained every day and some days for hours with VERY heavy down pours. With the S. China Sea heating up it seems like tropical storms develop much faster now.

So, how hot should it be? It is this kind of statement that gives credence to the climate change advocates. Temperatures vary depending on circumstances - they always have and always will. Florida, like Louisiana, is experiencing higher than average temperatures due to two low pressure systems that are pulling heat from the south. There is nothing strange or remarkable about it, it is just how weather systems operate.

What’s the best way to prepare? I’m in dallas so I most likely won’t havr heavy impact but its still good to know
@LoisoPondohva
Жыл бұрын
@@bingewatchingtube depends on your housing situation and other factors. But it's important to 1. Have an emergency kit, including a couple weeks supply of any medications you NEED to function/survive. You're not likely to need 2 weeks, but 1 week supply disruptions are pretty common in affected areas. 2. Have a supply of non-perishable foods for at least a week, including your pets. 3. Have or be able to fill a bathtub/containers with enough drinking water for about that length of time. 4. Look into storm shutters, including dyi options if you're low on cash. You don't necessarily need to install them now, but it's better to have on hand to install on case of a hurricane watch or worsening conditions. Plywood and taping a grid across your glass windows/doors once the risk becomes high can save you from glass flying everywhere. 5. If you have any in-progress home/yard renovation projects, known structural issues or so on, it's better to finish them or pause them for the season duration. 6. If you have unsecured stuff in the yard (parasols, hanging fixtures, smaller barbeque grills, general junk) in your yard, it's important to secure it very tightly or bring indoors, you don't want it impaling granny. 7. If you have chimneys or air conditioning ducts, you should have equipment to securely cover and/or block them in case of a hurricane watch. 8. Do maintenance on your car, have spares at home if possible, sometimes the best way to prepare is evacuate, and you won't have AAA coming out in a cat5 to save you. 9. If you have trees/branches that if fell, would damage your house, in a hurricane zone it's better to remove them now, I love trees as much as the next guy, but I love not being crushed by my collapsed roof more. 10. Try to have an emergency radio and keep in charged, it's great to watch the happenings on your TV, but electricity is one of the first things to fail. You can have a generator, but it's generally better to sit it out dark while the worst part of the storm is above you, because the risk of electrical fires and CO poisoning is exacerbated by the emergency, while the possibility to get timely help if that happens is less. Depending on your location, housing, budget, desire to prepare and so on, you can do less or more, but I've personally been in situations where missing any one of those could and sometimes did make my life miserable and/or in peril.

You should be ashamed of yourself for the Liquid IV ad. Someone that is simply thirsty does not need such additives. As for the claim "hydrates 2x's faster", that is marketing BS. There is no time measurement for hydration as every body absorbs water and electrolytes at very different rates. But keep cashing those fat checks.

Ian was a Category 5 while still out to sea, but Ian made landfall at category 4 intensity on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. It was still a major hurricane, but not a Category 5, and it doesn't take all that much time over land before a hurricane loses strength and it's category drops more and more. Sustained winds in a hurricane will decrease at a relatively constant rate once over land, approximately half the wind speed in the first 24 hours. In the case of Hurricane Fran, a strong Category 3 (a Major Hurricane), within 12 hours it had dropped to a tropical storm.

(This ignores fires, earthquakes, and tornado damages on the East Coast, with earthquakes there on the rise due to pumping water into the earth out of greed.) Compare that to earthquake damages of $0.039 trillion on the West Coast (including Alaska). And fires are less than $0.01 trillion per year average the past 5 years, so we're talking $0.099 trillion. Not even a quarter way to 1 trillion. Again, compare that to *_greater than 20x_* on the East Coast.

its especially sketchy because two things effected by climate change, have become more difficult to understand or predict. The Gulf Stream, and the Jet Stream. The Jet Stream is pushing northwards, and the gulf stream is slowing and changing to keep warmer water along north america. If this is the year that El Nino doesnt push cold air enough southward due to climate change, and instead sets the trough above say the great lakes and Appalachia, than this year would be the perfect storm for unpredicted and super major hurricanes slamming the NA Southeast.

So Normally El Nino would put a lid on the Atlantic Hurricane season..but for the first time in recorded history the Atlantic as a whole is searing hot, and the El Nino is there but weak. I think we will have a very active hurricane season and El Nino this time will not be enough to stop the Gargantuan Atlantic energy reservoir. Saying El Nino should "keep our season quiet" is a very bold statement to make given the variables at play now. We'll see how this video ages with time.

Is it me or has this been a very quiet spring/summer? We opened up storm season with quite an incredible barrage of tornadoes through the upper Midwest and there really hasn’t been much since then on that scale that was not only predicted but was expected.

What evacuation! Employers do not even let u out early much less pay you for hurricane days. Then there is only 2 ways out of Florida that bottleneck anyway. After 33 yrs in Florida and several hurricanes, there really is no way out especially for the poor and lower middle class. The costs involved to evacuate are huge!

As an fyi...the El Nino is official when the 3.4 region (more in the Central Pacific) hits the warming threshold, which as of today has not been met. Also, the warmth is highly skewed on the eastern side of the Pacific which also skews the wind shear and stable air profile. Also, most models are forecasting robust easterly trades in June which is a negative for El Nino. I think the El Nino will happen, but I think it is going to peak later and we might have a robust season that is more front loaded.
@carmellobilotti6577
Жыл бұрын
You are not correct in the first line. The Niño 3.4 temperature threshold has been met, its at 0.592 C above average. The other conditions still haven’t been met though which is why we aren’t considered to be in an El Niño just yet.
@scpatl4now
Жыл бұрын
@@carmellobilotti6577 Region 3.4 has not met the threshold for El Nino. The CPC weekly update of 5/30/23 has Niño 3.4 below the threshold of +0.5C of El Niño. Other ENSO regions have Niño 3 at +0.8C / Niño 1+2 at +2.0C and Niño 4 at +0.4C. The subsurface has leveled off in this update. Big June update will be on June 8 when they may or not declare officially El NIño. From USGS The term El Niño (Spanish for 'the Christ Child') refers to a warming of the ocean surface, or above-average sea surface temperatures, in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. The low-level surface winds, which normally blow from east to west along the equator (“easterly winds”), instead weaken or, in some cases, start blowing the other direction (from west to east or “westerly winds”). El Niño recurs irregularly, from two years to a decade, and no two events are exactly alike. El Niño events can disrupt normal weather patterns in the United States and globally.
