Billy Ray, I love your videos! I am a 70 year old lady. I am a subscriber.. I don't do the kinds of things you do but I love watching. I do split a little wood and have a small battery chain saw because I am a green wood carver. I would never attempt what you do. I do, however stop on the side of the road and say. Do you need that limb? I love wood. I also share your belief that we all need to be kind and care for one another. God bless and keep you Billy Ray.

i hate to dissapoint you but i doubt its even a ton. as billy ray its height, but if you take the density of white line at 500kg on the cube. if your state side, ill work in imperial from now on, 15 inch diameter estimated from the video, you will get 7 yard length 21 ft to a ccubic yard, so 450 kg there. and that will put you well over halfd of that tree at 21 ft up. 750 kg top end. ask billy ray for the dimentions. post on here id be happy to work it out for you. but billy will know his weights as acomercial faller

@@joshlower1 you clearly dont fall timber comercially. for 10 tons you would be looking at an oak 3 ft across in the butt. ive gone through the numbers in my previous comment, admittidely the heigh may be a little off. but the diamiter is prity accurate, as im going off his boots and saw bar. if im a dummy, lets see your calculations for how you arrive at 10 tons, you using long or short, ill give you a clue, if your american you will be on short tons, 900kg compared to metric that is 1000kg, a 2.5 ft ash will come in at between 4 to 5 ton. So calcs pls. if you are going to call some one that has spent many yrs falling dummy then id love to see how clever you are. do you even work with wood, i doubt it as you would, (no pun intended) have never come out with such an outlandish figure. i dropped an oak 5 ft across in the butt. not so long ago. Bare in mind volume is on a cube law is length, prity big stick as my late father would have said, bit of rot in it and that was only around 22, 23 tons. So your figures. I want to know how you get to ten tons.

Watching your videos Buckin... always brings me to a happy place.. I started doing tree work with my brothers thanks to you! You have opened our eyes to the potential we hold, not only to better ourselves, but to better the world! Still to this day, before every tree I climb, I think of you.... how you showed us to use a rag to make the spurs more comfortable, using a double flip line, how to properly sharpen and tune a saw. We moved to Europe from Canada not long ago.. our aim was to do what we love and help people while doing it.. so we started doing treework for free...

Billy Ray, thank you for your content. Your tips, pointers and safety advice has helped me conquer bucking 30” plus size diameter sections that I hired professional fellers to take down for me. They were too close to the house and power lines and were old & staring to snap off huge limbs in every rain/ snow storm. My saw is a Plug in electric Oregon with an 18” bar. I thought there was no way my saw could cut these huge sections of Oak and Maple. Thanks to your content, I’m over halfway through bucking and can soon start splitting.

Even if the tree is slimmer at the top its still the same plate streching up. its easy to assume there is runn-out during the strech of the tree. if you dont know any better. also makes sence why the hinge is stronger when its 1/3. u use fewer '' plates '' . or maybe im off. but that how i understod it anyhow. :) great video. thank you Buckin. you inspire alot of people.

Now i would say i am a tree feller also because of your videos showing me the best way to remove a tree and how to use wedges to help fell difficult trees that little bit easier. In fact did one this morning with a very bad lean on it, with wedges it went exactly where i needed it. Plus saves time rather than having to climb them and take them down bit by bit, which still have to do in certain scenarios. Keep up the good work with the felling/educational videos, more of these as i am sure they help loads of folks, i have learnt a lot. Plus seeing what a great country Canada is. Be kind folks 😇

Especially with that back leaning tree, there's no way I would have risked crushing my deck or damaging part of my house or anyone else's without putting a simple safety rope in that tree. As you point out, it would have been real easy to do. Balance the simplicity of that precaution against the potential consequences of damage in this case and how you would feel. You could still do the job with all the nice wedge work, and eliminated the risk to boot by keeping the safety rope cinched up without a lot of tension as the tree came forward, to prevent it from falling backwards if your hinge wood popped. The slightest excess cut would pop it as you explained.

I do everything on my own. Learning from you has helped me log more trees in a safer way, so far. LOL I did get hit in the face with a wedge while pounding on it. A bloody fat lip later I got my tree down. A beautiful 29 inch clear white oak. Yesterday I cut a 2 sided red oak. I had to stand on the bed of my side by side to cut the wedge. I started a plunge back cut and moved the side by, came back and finished the back cut. Down came the tree. I think of your videos while I’m doing it. Thank you. I will have plenty of logs to feed the mill in the spring.
