Just looked up some reviews of this place on the Chinese Gaode map, seems that not only do those Didi drivers hoard parking spaces, they also urinate everywhere as there is no toilet facilities, or you might have to use the one from the cafeteria, which means you have to make purchases.

Interesting vid. I think it’s critically that NIO get power swaps into those areas. Those stations, with tons of different charging stalls, serve as great promo for all the cars parked along. People can wander along and see different makes and models. Not having a swap station there means NIO is missing out of providing that promo to all those other drivers who may be looking for a new car in the next few months. Cheers. D

One day, when cars that really need a charging spot cannot find one, they will need to hire people or robots to ticket the cars that are occupying the space but not charging. Hopefully, the fines will be enough for the extra cost.

Amazing amount of chargers. Maybe China can power this many DC fast chargers because of it's DC high voltage power lines.

Wow that's just crazy. Maybe they should charge for parking so it's not treated as a rest area. We dropped our Nio off at a service center yesterday to have some bodywork done because some fool sideswiped us. It was Nio heaven. I've never seen so many in one place. Enjoy the Li it seems like a good ride.

Everybody alright from the sideswipe? That sucks, but on the other hand cool to see all those NIO. The LI drives nice, very comfy. Just would be better if it was fully electric, but I guess I'm in the minority on that opinion based on sales numbers.

Just something minor, all is well thanks. It does suck being a newer car. It was bound to happen unfortunately as the drivers here are what I call passive/aggressive for lack of a better term. It was more of a pain to work with the local traffic police. They didn't know how to deal with me being a foreigner. 3 hours later and we were on our way. @@Eric_Garrison

Coal fired power stations but that’s remote combustion, so different 😅
@jianyang6281

50% plus now for China is renewable power. coal fire power is getting less and less. the most important thing is "high voltage transmit" tech that sole owned by Chinese. we can transport renewable power from far far way place with a little bit wire lose. this is why I think other countries couldnot develop EVs, unless they could build a power house beside each town.

Setting standards? Considering China's electric power generation is 2.5x of the United State and 40% of that comes from renewable energy, this will be a pretty tough standard for other countries to meet.

There are 2 PSS quite near to the airport already, I think they wouldn't need to charge at a place like this generally speaking unless for some reason they wanted to. Seems to almost exclusively be used by ride share drivers. I'm sure plenty of pick ups and drop offs at the airport.

@Eric_Garrison thank you for your response, Eric. If you are willing and have time, could you also film the demand of the BSS? Like how many cars are using BSS daily basis at one particular location. I think many shareholders would love to see that.

One thing, is there a shortage of somewhere to charge a car in Shenzen? would be my argument if it is plentiful as I last saw in Shenzhen don't think it should be a huge issue there's plenty of free bays as you were walking around for someone to drive in find a spot and charge their car as most people will just be slow charging at their residence. This would be more for rideshare Didi drivers, BTW Sydney has Didi also which competes directly with Uber.
@ChristopherLee-y6s

More context about these Chinese Ubers: There Didi drivers are mostly migrant workers from rural, poorer townships that living on the relative poverty line of big cities like Shenzhen. They have to work 12-15 hours a day to make ends meet as roughly 30% of their fare goes straight to the ride share company‘s platform. Since they also wouldn’t have the money to purchase a new car to run the business, those cars you see in the Shell Recharge station are very likely rented. Added to the fact that Chinese Ubers are now saturated with supply, the revenue (not profit!) per day per driver can be as low as USD 45. They are all fighting a price war and basically no one is happy in the end because even the passengers are suffering, as those drivers often will not turn the AC on just to save probably like $0.5 on electricity.

The cost of land there must not be at a premium to facilitate so many chargers, but then again the charging spots appear to be quite narrow, or is that because the cars are wide? Just looks like one needs to be very careful opening doors getting in and out of the car parked in the bays. Very advanced compared to Australia, not heard or seen any Shell petrol stations with chargers.

Impressive in terms of size! Once they charge for parking or take blocking fees - it might not be that crowded anymore... The first time i charged my ET5 in a Mall parking- just for the experience- it reached 90% and stopped, 15min later a bar went up that has to be unblocked before you leave with an annoying voice on the floor that talks constantly, haha... Just a question of time there i guess
