@@jacobmoore6874 I live in the area and honestly you could catch 1,000 pounds a day from the bank in a lot of spots no problem. Not even kidding. Every river coming off the Chesapeake and quite a few areas of the Chesapeake itself. We catch them trolling for stipers in rivers during the spawn even. Anything bouncing on the bottom and they'll crush it. Sucks because you think you're on a nice rockfish until you feel the spin of the catfish. You could catch them 3 at a time until you got too tired on the lower Potomac River. There are giants in there, 60+ pounds, but the number of 20-40 pound fish is what is absurd. Any cut bait works best but I watched a guy catch fish after fish on a bar of soap a few years ago. Chunks of a bar of soap on a hook and he was catching them as fast as he could keep a hook in the water. I don't target them much but I catch quite a few regardless. If I'm after catfish I tend to use live bluegill as bait and target flatheads in the upper Potomac where the bluecats haven't got past the whitewater yet. Catch some big channels that way as well. It's a crazy catfish fishery.

@@jesse_cheese Thanks for correcting me Jesse. I grew up in Missouri where every river connects to the Mississippi eventually, so Flathead and Blue cat can be anywhere. I shouldn't have assumed. Here we are suffering the plague of Asian carp, which is out competing every other fish. I hear there is tremendous effort being put forth to keep them out of the great lakes, where they could, and probably would cause billions in damage to those fisheries. The problem with invasive species is that it's basically impossible to get rid of them once they are established. About all you can do is try to keep their numbers down. Good luck, and again, thanks for setting me straight.
