I just planted a beautiful Kona/Sharwil from a 5gal that I purchased from Louise’s nursery a month ago. It is doing well so far. I also have 2 more in containers I will be up potting soon. Hopefully I will be getting some fruit in couple yrs here in Santa Paula, Ventura Co. 🤞🤠

@@michaelluna19682-3 times a week during summer depending on soil type. 90’s+, I shower them daily in backyard if young trees, since they are more sensitive to heat🤠

ermanao! how ya doing... so my question is the following... i live here in the tropics (panama, central america) i have some small avocado trees... catalina and lorena which are antillean race avocados... good for tropical heat.. i got some type of hass as well. that is growing well although it should'nt as were i'm from is hot... anyway.. that sharwill what race is? and does it handle the heat... ?? i wonder also if there is a way to get some different variations from avocados.. from other places.. we have down here a few options... "native", catalina, lorena, hass, simmons, choquette... thats pretty much it..

Hi! I believe Sharwil is a Mexican Guatemalan hybrid. The original mother Sharwil tree is from Brisbane area Australia, a very hot, subtropical place. So yes it can handle the heat. Thanks 🌱🌴🥑

Brad said it is one of his favorite as a fruit!

I currently have seven sharwils in the ground… Here in Kona we don’t call it a “Kona” Sharwil.

I got some new avocado trees, reed and sir prize. They are a bit left leggy and need a stake support. The sir prize didn't have any branches until 24 inches. I was thinking of topping it down to 16 inches so it would start new branches lower. I don't want the tree to be too big. Does this sound like a good idea? What's the ideal height for the first set of branches? Is 16 inches too low? I'm thinking it might hit the ground when it has fruits. Thanks for all your videos.

@@AJTheGraftMan Can you also include pruning and shaping the avocado trees? It seems most KZitemrs just let them grow and top for height. I've watched a lot of your videos but it seems there's a lot of "very good tasting" avocado. I think it would be useful to have a top for each categories. Taste, heat tolerant, small size, prolific, overall best, etc. I chose my reed because I saw it on your heat tolerant video (I'm in SD) and you said it tasted good. Thanks for your help.

Julie probably doesn't like to call it Kona Sharwill because it's name is Sharwill named after the two men who developed it here in Auatralia. I think it's wrong to rename something to suit your own cultural bias. But that's just me
