Update 1.08 is live now! And the gt website has a statement from Kaz
@nickofzo
2 жыл бұрын
Statement: I wanted to explain what happened in this update. Immediately before the release of the 1.07 update, we discovered an issue where the game would not start properly in some cases on product versions for the PS4 and PS5. This was a rare issue that was not seen during tests on the development hardware or the QA sessions prior to the release, but in order to prioritize the safety of the save data of the users, we decided to interrupt the release of the 1.07 update, and to make a 1.08 correctional update. This is the reason for the delay. My sincere apologies for the late report to everyone. Also in this update, some event rewards have been adjusted. I wanted to also explain the reasons for it and our plans going forward. In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions. At the same time the pricing of cars is an important element that conveys their value and rarity, so I do think it’s important for it to be linked with the real world prices. I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again. We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this. It pains me that I can’t explain the details regarding this at this moment, but we plan on continuing to revise GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game. We would really appreciate it if everyone could watch over the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a somewhat longer term point of view. Kazunori Yamauchi

Not saying I agree or disagree with Kaz but... Sounds like they want the base game to be a grind but will have a flow of events that are more engaging and rewarding. I am well aware of events and mtx, I think long term players will be able to have the cars they want, but can use mtx as a shortcut if they are a whale. I admit I'm used to being able to buy almost any car I want in GT sport but that is at its end of it's life cycle where value comes at a discount. For a fresh game they are going to milk at as much as possible. It's no where near as bad as some mobile/mtx racing games I've played... TLDR: Just sounds like they want to sort of capture whales willing to spend and prolong content and more "fun" ways to earn cars and credits for everyone else.

One thing about your point on spending $50 on credits… that’s bad enough when the game itself is only $80, but the thing is, that $50 buys you one, maybe two semi-exotic cars? I want someone to do up a table with all the car costs and average upgrade max out costs and see how many hours / years of grinding to purchase everything. Then back it off from there and throw out what we can all pretty much agree are cars you’d never buy or spend in game money on, e.g. Toyota Yaris or something, then see how much money and time that represents. I’m a former race driver in SCCA. Here is my suggestion: You don’t need every car. You just need a representative of each car class. A modern Ferrari and Lamborghini drive almost identically. Rally cars all require the same basic technique. Likewise, no one needs more than one high-powered open wheel vehicle. Personally, I spent my credits (included with the game) on the ‘95 Carrera RS CS. It’s exceedingly rare IRL and is the only car anyone really needs anyway. I bought some parts so it can run in various classes. I’m not getting sucked into some crazy car collecting BS, when all I want to do is have fun.

I agree. However, not everyone plays like this. A lot of people just want a variety of cars for fun. (Kind of like being a collector) Not necessarily to tune them, but to just play and enjoy the garage. Sport mode/Multiplayer is going to force people into purchasing the “most op” cars of the week and tune them. GT is notorious for having one or two cars that are considerably faster. Not to mention BOP updates. Plenty of things will happen to force you out of a particular car, or setup you may like.

I know that they nerfed some good tracks…and it’s kind of greedy…but when I think about it again it’s like 60k in 3:50min even if you don’t focus and concentrate to much…so if you only do your daily training is like 500k, before the patch it was one million, so before the patch you need 1-2 days only training distance (more or less) to buy every car you want and now it’s like you need maybe 3 days training (more or less) for one million and 3 days with less then 30min of racing a day. So it’s kind of…ok? What is more worse is the lack of content, that you can’t sell cars for example, that you can’t invest the money in kind of legendary cars and sell them maybe when they more worth…a real finance system for example, then they could easily make some big races like they had before, with a big distance and great rewards, they could build a small part of a city, where you can hang around, drive around with other players, maybe with traffic and parking spots…for example Monaco or some iconic places, where you can show your cars to other players, sell them maybe, get requests for selling, buying and racing and so on and so on…I really expected more.

I cannot play this game, because i dont have the time to as you said, sit on my own playing the AI, to get any credits. I dont want to play on my own, so for me, i am not bothering and i cant see myself actually playing this game. I was so tempted to buy GT7, as I wanted the next level of GT Sport, but I guess I need GT Sport II. Pretty sure Kaz and team put in a lot of effort and perhaps GT7 is an evolution of GT games, but I guess in Covid era everyone was hooked on GT Sport and it became what most of us need (including KZitem creators) the "go to" online multiplayer, so give me GT Sport II + full VR and I'm your client PD.

Hi Z, any thoughts on the lobby setting ? I think it is intentional to be like this. They don't want us to spend time on lobbies ? They couldn't profit anything from the lobbies ? They don’t want us to talk to each other, spend an afternoon gathering in the lobbies. Go collect cars, go race FIA. All they want from us is Money and Data, in order for them to get more business deals. Very disappointed to this “big” company.

"The heritage of GT" is probably the argument I'm seeing being thrown around on my own channel a lot these past few days. I've got a surprisingly high number of comments with people siding with Polyphony Digital on the reward changes and it's frustrating. I get that there are people who just don't mind the grind, and that's fine. But on the other hand, not everyone has hours upon hours to put into grinding the same events over and over again just so that they can buy one car. This grindy design worked great in the older games because most of us were younger and had a lot of time to just play games. Now we're in our 30s, with jobs and families, which makes this design philosophy feel outdated and predatory.

Reading the post they made i think the problem was a time constraint. They are basically "fixing" the economy, before they have actually completed their intended idea of the single player experience. I would be surprised if the coming months didn't have them release much more themed championships, possibly endurance mode and whatnot. Why it wasn't already in here i dunno. I think the easy fix to this is simply more opportunity to race different things rather than repeat the same. A slight re-evaluation of the custom race earnings, and making certain upgrades just free. The most annoying might be the tyres. It's almost a 100 grand just to have a set of IW, Sport and Slicks for a single car which often times only needs its wet set once. As for custom races i think they should build the system like the license rating for iRacing but for money. You can build a fairly balanced and reliable equation that considers corner numbers, distances and general difficulty to make a comensurate reward for any race. For now it seems to be mostly just about lenghth driven which is obviously exploitable by racing on Route X or Daytona. A Clean Lap of the Nords is worth a dozen laps around an oval any day of the week.
@JimmyFoxhound

I'll bet you anything we see no such thing as new championships or races from PD 'within a few months'. PDs timetable for putting out content is incredibly slow. I bet the only content we will see is new super expensive cars added to the legend car lot to push more MTXs.

The issue that you are trying to identify is actually much larger than GT itself. There is a huge problem with micro transactions nowadays: it’s pure greed. Console games developed back in the day were way more complete and full of content but now customers are faced with buying incomplete games and are given the choice to buy deluxe / ultimate editions and cheesy DLC options. The developers are doing this to cover up their unfinished product by purposely setting aside some base content and marketing it as bonus content. They know that this will buy them more time as well. It’s more or less an excuse and a sneaky strategy to make customers pay more money out of their own pockets. Where it gets worse is that they know DLC is more flexible to price as well, hence even the DLC is split and broken up as much as possible: each with their own asking price (like paying for each additional character, adding a story / chapter or packaging a few tracks for a fee etc.) The reality is that the “DLC and bonuses” should have been part of the base game in the first place. GT7 is one of those rare gems where the development team really tried to offer their customers a full and complete package. You can tell, because as a game, it is very polished and complete compared to a lot of other games out in the market today. It’s quite obvious that Kazunori probably isn’t the one that agrees with the micro transactions. If more than anything he would rather continuously provide free upgrades to the game (with DLC being free of charge) as his main objective and goal is to make GT accessible to as many people as possible. He proved this with Gt Sport: it’s one of the few titles that actually gave out free content every month (cars, tracks, missions) without charging their customers. It shows their commitment to producing a high quality product. That also leads me to believe he probably only wanted to develop GT7 for only the PS5 and not the PS4 (dated hardware from ten years ago). Polyphony takes tremendous pride in using the latest cutting edge technology / equipment and it shows in the entire GT series. Long story short: the micro transactions most likely isn’t his choice: these type of decisions are probably made by other greedy execs (those who decide whether the title is going to be cross platform etc.)

Maybe I was naive, but how in the hell can GT7 not have an offline single player mode? LOW PAY OUTS, RIGGED ROULETTE TICKETS, NO OTHER WAY TO GET ROULETTE TICKETS ONCE YOU FINISH GT CAFE. This is a predatory tactic and Sony should be held responsible. £15.99 is NOT a microtransaction. A full price game should NEVER have microtransactions for content that releases at the same time as the game. NEVER.
